You guys have to realize that just because you can "fit" a large tire over a certain width doesn't mean that it is optimal for performance. You have to calculate how much of that tire actually makes proper contact with the ground under load (the tire's contact patch).

in the case for instance of a 315 tire on a 10.5 ( for example Mr. Olsens HRE setup we just did) there is 1/4" of buldge per side on the Nitto Invo tires.

Total height of this tire on the wheel is 12.5" which means he is receiving in essence 12" of contact patch on a 10.5" wheel based on these measurement. Im not a math major so I apologize if Im making a minor error of a few mm

but a 10 or 10.5" on a 305 or 315 provides a larger amount of contact patch area, But I do get what your saying for instance if you have a 9.5" rear and slap on a 305 it doesnt benefit you the tire overbulges and can cause the vehicle to not perform as well.
