Which type did the people who installed their own front springs use? The only type autozone has is the 2 piece ones and they do not work with my strut design. Any suggestions? Having trouble finding one like CJ pony used in their video

2 piece rentals from autozone will work you just have to analyze where to put them. It will take you forever but impact gun will help speed it up.

the one cj used in their video will make life easier but they are like $100+

yup, just when you think a spring is compressed enough, compress it more and save your face.

I tried the two piece design, and they're a total PITA. You can make it work, but I'd recommend you don't bother, and instead get one like Bill uses in the CJ Pony Parts video. I found one on Amazon for $55, which isn't bad at all considering the two piece designs are $35 or so.

Here is the link.

I had no issues with the 2 piece one from Vatozone.

I had issues with the two piece compressor also. You need to fuck around with the orientation a lot to find a place it will fit without hitting the strut. The clam shell compressor is easier but I have no idea where you can rent one.

I got one side done but it wore out my air compressor! now its getting hot every 5 minutes and requires a 30 min cool down. I'm installing the CJ springs which is supposed to be a 1.5 front drop, so far it measures just over 1/2 inch lower than the stock side. No settling time of course, just a quick 2 mile drive. Is that normal? How much do the springs settle? Any missteps that could cause the drop to be less than advertised?

You can walk right in to Harbor Freight tool and buy the same exact compressor for less and use one of the 20% coupons found spread all over the globe while your at it. I borrowed it from a friend and it worked like a charm.
