So I picked up an inexpensive spoiler and am getting ready to do the install. It came with no instructions. So I have a few questions.

1. I know I need to clean the trunk. It was washed and waxed a couple of weeks ago. What is the best way to prep it? Rubbing alcohol, just soap and water?

2. It did come with a small packet of adhesion promoter. Like a wet nap from KFC size. Is that enough?

3. The tape is questionable. I'll be picking up some 3M and 3M adhesion promoter. Does promoter go on both the spoiler and trunk?

4. Is outside temp a factor? It's supposed to be in the upper 40s or low 50s today. Is that too cold?

5. I have no idea how heavy spoilers are supposed to be, but this one super light. A three pounds at the most. Since I don't want to drill holes, just in case I don't like the look, I'm just going to use the tape. Others have tried it with success with particular one, so I think I'll be ok. But, how much tape do I use? One ring around the edge, or do I cover the bottom of the spoiler with the tape?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

As far as prep goes, clean the area with soap and water, then use alcohol to remove any wax or other protective coatings. Working with painted surfaces and adhesive tapes, you want to be on the warmer side. I'd advise using a hair dryer or heat gun (both work fine) to keep the temperature of the trunk lid and spoiler warm. Adhesion will be better this way. If you're not going to drill holes, I'd suggest using as much double sided tape as possible underneath. I bolted mine down and the tape went all the way around the outside. This also serves as a water barrier. Start with that and work your way in with the tape. Also, be prepared to lose your spoiler at speed if you're not bolting it down. Tape is incredibly strong, until it isn't. Hope all goes well and post pics when you're done!

Hopefully it'll be this weekend. I picked up some 3M 3616. It's not vhb. Its super strength or something. It says it's permanent. Haven't decided it I'm going to use it or order some vhb.
