....snip

I didn't want to make a fuss about it but generally if you get your eyes up on the road and start paying attention you can avoid 90% of speeding tickets.
And collisions, and running off the road and......

It seems to be the theme these days with most accidents. People behind the wheel just not paying attention. My family watches me drive and they think I'm some kind of moronic robot. My phone dings with a text and I ignore it until I'm stopped. It drives them up a wall.
"But Dad, what if I was in an accident and you ignored my call?"
"Well sweetie, you would have to survive like I did when I was your age and there was no cell phones." :headbonk:

On the iPhone they offer the "Do Not Disturb" while driving feature. It even sends them a little message that I'm driving and will return their message when I arrive at my destination. It eliminates texts and calls but the GPS will still work if you want to run a navigation app. Genius little feature for those of us that like to run sterile cockpits.

Is this an ios 11 feature? I've been refusing to upgrade to 11 with my 6s due to every time I have upgraded new OS to an older device, my phone went to hell in a handbag quickly.
Since they were outed last month, I wonder if this is still the same.

It may be but if you look under Settings/ Do Not Disturb/ then scroll down and see if "DO NOT DISTURB WHILE DRIVING" is an option. Mine activates when my phone pairs with my Mustang via bluetooth.

I don't know when it was rolled out. I only found out about it because I texted my boss once at for a meeting and got the DNDWD text. I asked him about it and set my phone up that afternoon to do the same.

And you're right, upgrading your OS will tank your phone but supposedly Apple is going to roll out an app that will allow you to turn off the software features that slow the older phones down. You'll get reduced battery life but the performance should get back to normal.

hopefully we haven't swung to far off topic.

Good advice. I started doing that and my speeding tickets did indeed drop from 10 a week to one a week.

Now that I completed my traffic school and cleared my speeding ticket on 1/16, I need to be a good boy for 12 months. In 12 months I’ll be eligible for traffic school again. Even though 80 mph seems like an adequate speed in a 70 zone, I prefer 85. This car sings at 85. On the street though, no point going more than 5mph over the speed limit. I really do need a track day.

If you can get a job in Manor, TX but find a way to live in Lake City Estates TX you'll have a 85 mph speed limit on the way to work on 130.

I'd say this is ridiculous but my daughter has managed her career so she works in marijuana free states.

i (knock on wood) havent got anything in the 8 months with this car, but i put that up to pure luck.

When i was 23 I had a 2010 mustang GT track pack. I was crazy needless to say, raced anything that provoked me, WOT at every light i could etc. I pulled 4 ticket in that car in 2 months, and I had 2 others in another car right before that one. I was 1 point from losing my license. My insurance went from 130 to 480 a month. "god" shined down on me laid me off from my two jobs, and i ended up in a mazda 3 2.5l for 4 years. Probably saved my life, my license and who knows what else. Drive safe guys

A few years ago I was talking with a neighbor of mine that was a sergeant in our local PD about a ticket I'd gotten in my then new Corvette C6. He was socked I was written for only 10 over PSL so he ran my DLN on his computer and pointed to a line under "caution indicators" that just read "chronic speeder".

I assume I collected that back in the early 90's when I had a 7 speeding tickets in one year and got my license suspended. I haven't had a warning in 25 years so it's good to be careful about suspensions.
