I am trying to see the highest RPM ever recorded by my engine. Does anyone know of a software (laptop or mobile) that can view this datapoint? I am not trying to start logging RPM. I just want to see the car's built-in logs for the highest RPM achieved.

Before or after the engine blew?

Back on topic:
Forscan is a data logger as are many other devices, but trying to extract RPM logs - not sure what the S550 PCM interval capture is or for how long it retains any such data. It does retain crash data with data points prior to a crash event, which would capture speed/rpm/brake pedal/accelerator pedal, etc.... For engine warranty repairs, most likely retains rpm from a certain point as well... but not sure if there's any such extensive "log" of rpm captures for retainage by hours, days, months, etc.

@fmc_smt are you aware of any such RPM data captures with your experience?

@Cobra Jet haha! 😆 the motor did not blow, it's still running normally, but I did have a moneyshift that brought it above redline I believe. Wanted to check how high it went

Oh I was just being sarcastic - but in all seriousness yea gotta be very careful with those money shifts...

I'm hoping someone with greater knowledge of factory PCM knowledge and retaining of data points can add some tech.

I have never heard of Ford having any record of this on the ECU.

A few manufactures (BMW) have done it though the years but I don’t know of any cars that have this feature anymore.

Hmm unfortunate, I might start putting permanent data recorders so I can keep track of it myself.

Can't help you with historical data, but my Aeroforce Interceptor Gauge does save the max value of whatever PIDs I have selected to display from the scan list without having to datalogging. The max values do erase at key off though.

I also can't help with what may or may not exist in the current ECU for historical data but the Torque mobile app can be setup with gauges that track the highest value of a PID such as RPM. Get a Bluetooth OBDII device and download the app.

Unless the engine hit 9500, don't worry about it.

I'd love to hear all about your permanent data recorders.

And your money shift. How you managed to do that.

I can't speak for Ford but Hondas will still record an "over rev" event and what rpm was reached at time of event. We have had to look at it on several civic si's that "mysteriously" blew up and when checked showed 10k+ rpms followed by misfires and other misc codes.
