Are there issues with getting our car SMOG'd with after market catback exhausts?

No there should not be.

As long as you leave the catalytic converters alone and have a stock or CARB approved intake, you will pass smog.

California law says that any tampering with the stock exhaust is illegal. we don't have to smog these cars for like 5 years so whatever catback you decide go with, make sure you keep your stock one for when you have to smog.. or if you get a ticket for aftermarket exhaust.

It's not illegal unless you mess with the catalytic converts. So no turbo backs. no long tubes. or xpipes. catbacks are fine. then you have to only deal with noise regulation. Smog on newer cars are not sniffer tested anymore just scanned but a cop will pull you over if they smell your car.

That pertains to noise...no smog shop enforces noise ordinances. It isn't required for emissions testing.

All the Mustangs I ever owned had aftermarket exhaust...hell, even my 09 Accord & my old 07 EDGE AWD has/had aftermarket exhaust. Passed just fine last 2 smog checks.

And if our EXSport wasn't the wife's ride, I'd be switching that stock cat-back out too...

Leave the cat alone and you are good!

Had an 87 Supra with a catback and had no problems with smog.
