I want to get new wheels for my new convertible and will be staying with the stock Michelin tyres. When searching I find that there are very few 19" x 9" wheels but a lot at 8.5" width. What affect would there be having the 8.5" on the front with the 9.5" on the rear.

Are there any issues doing this and would it affect the warranty?

Alternatively I could put the front 255 tyres on a 9.5" rim. There is an interesting post at

that indicates that it is OK but am not sure if the offsets etc would prevent this.

I believe legally you can't put rims on that are smaller in width than stock, although I doubt they would ever blink an eye or tell a 9 inch rim versus an 8.5 inch one just by sight when you would have the stock tyres on. 255s should be straightforward for an 8.5 inch rim.

As for drawbacks, potentially not as good handling at the front end, although you could counteract that with a lighter wheel (stock wheels are heavy).
