Hello all. Was just wondering if anyone elses has had a problem with grip in 1st and 2nd. I have the base GT with manual, 3:55 gears, 18inch foundry weels with the 235 Pirelli all season. So suprized when I picked up the car that it's on such a skinny tire. Thinking I'm going to have to upgrade wheels in the spring. Thinking 285.
Just surprised that ford put a 235 on a 435 hp car.

(Yes I know I could of got PP with 275s. But was going to do NT05 or Mickey's)

Yes, your not the only one that is wonder why ford is running such a skinny tire. I am also having a hard time not spinning them :headbang:. Kinda goes sideways also when turning. I also need wider tires for some traction.

The tire size on the 18" wheels of the GT, whether the standard 18s or the optional ones, is 235/50-18. For a street car at this power level, driving normally doesn't present a problem. I haven't found a problem with acceleration if the stability systems are left on, even driving on cold roads. The only time I experienced some slight oversteer was on a very smooth road surface and with the tires still cold.

A benefit of this width is for navigating snow conditions. If I upgrade to 19s at some point in the future, I would chose a 255 width tire, mainly for appearance and maintaining the stock sizes.
