So this was my first time on track with a RWD car and it was just awesome!! My instructor Ross was very good with instructions and explaining what I should do differently with a RWD car. He had been racing for 22yrs since he was 11 so I knew I was in safe hands. I was on the last session (Orange lanyard) and the track was nice and dry for the first 4-5 laps and just as I was about to put it in Track mode (forgot to select this when I set off) the heavens opened so the track mode was left alone. Got to learn how the car responded in the wet and the always changing conditions, to the point where I was on a Jenson Button lap (wet line) for most of my session, especially through stowe, vale and club corner. I can't wait to book another track day after I have done my Palmer Sport Day because I know I will learn so much from that to then transfer to my own track day at Bedford Autodrome.
So here is some pics from the day, thanks to my wife for putting up with the rain and staying out the whole time to get these. Also a very quick video of a couple of pit straight fly bys (negative maverick the paddock is full).

Hi there

The only issue after yesterdays track day the odd rear clunk I used to get from the rear (differential) is now not so odd and a rather regular occurrence. :(

When I got my car it had a slight/soft thud which did not bother me as I read many of them do it and it was not so noticeable. Of course with BMR CB005 and Steeda differential bushes the soft thud became more of a clunk but was quiet and still only under gear changes, again rather normal for the car.

However now I am getting a rather loud clunk, easy to get the car to do it it as well, move forward in 1st, stick it in reverse move backwards and CLUNK. Can hear it both inside and outside the car!

Either something has loosened up or my differential was not very well set at the factory. Tempted to get it up on ramps tonight to check all is tight under there. Apart from the more obvious clunk drive is fine. :)
Sounds like a classic diff bush issue to me Gibbo. Check to see if the inserts are worn (amazing how quickly they can be destroyed) or perhaps something is just loose?

I can replicate it so easy going back and forward, I though it was maybe diff/gear backlash but its not a deep/thud knock more of a high pitched loud clunk, also does it over bumps/holes sometimes if braking.

Might be rear anti roll bar link. Here is a video I just made seconds ago. (Happens at 17s)

I can't see it being differential bushes as they were just inserts that fill the voids of the stock ones, so if they got destroyed in theory car would go quieter.

I was impressed with all your cars, I was talking to the press at the Focus RS launch at Stowe, and all I could hear were you all thundering around the track, no one was holding back!

Thinking about an open session at the Ford Heritage Garage (which is not open to the public) if its of interest??

and with a Q&A this time!!

Great bit of Mustang publicity for them to listen to.

Sounds like a very good idea to me Andy. I have seen on a program some of the cars Ford have hiding in there and they look great.

Always great idea, well up for it.

Do me a favour and show my video to your techs see if they have any idea on that clunk, developed after yesterdays event, I clearly pushed too hard! :D

Are those stock exhausts on the fly bys? They sound good!

I am really pleased to see that all those who attended Silverstone yesterday had a great event

Thank you for coming
Andy. Is there any chance of another event for all the people that didn't make this one?

Was a good gesture Andy from Fords to lay this on

I would think there would be many members who would be interested,
those who missed out this week for various reasons
work commitments/short notice/illness etc

Would love to see this happen,

Then Manders could give his OWN Mustang a jolly good thrashing

Look forward to it
