Today I decided to hook my Nguage up just to monitor a few things (no longer tuned by lund)

I have a paxton 3.80 stock bov, bap, full exhaust...

1 and 2nd gear winding out the gears knock is 0.00 to -4.xx which is normal.. But when i shift into third I have seen up to +3.00 degrees of knock (not wot) ..

When I go WOT into boost its all negative.. But third gear is weird under normal driving a little little surge feeling with some positive knock.. What do you guys think?

You should only really worry about knock when there is load on the engine, and you're at wot. It's normal to go lean during a shift or when you're off the throttle.

Knock when under load and climbing in revs is not good. Knock 'spikes' when shifting is no big deal.

Previously, when seeing excessive knock (+5 or more at various revs during WOT), it ended up being one injector o-ring ripped and allowing air in. Note that this was not on the Mustang.

Not saying that's your issue, just keep an eye out for knock during heavy load. It could indicate a tune problem or a physical problem.

No catch can. I talked to my tuner he said not to worry about it, said it could be gas, weather... he did say if I see more then +7 to contact him

I mentioned it in my other post, it seems like the car is using the KR to maximize fuel efficiency while not in WOT.

Also, tuner normally set the KNOCKR in a range of -4 to +4 (from lund or procharger), you should ask what the range is. After that point is reached you won't see the number goes up, even when if the piston shoot out of the hood

Any knock is bad. You just need to determine if it's tune related, mechanical, or false.

I have the NGauge to monitor only with whipple calibration and I see up to total of 21 degrees timing at times and I've never see positive knock. I have my Ngauge set to show negative numbers in green and positive in red. I've never seen red yet.

Did you data log this? What was engine load ?

You could try this :

http://www.morepowertuning.com/ngauge-setup-gauges

6-LED Warning Light Examples

Knock Retard
By Selecting Knock, you can set the 6 LED lights to step up to the next light every degree of timing that is retarded. This can be set from 1 through 6, that way the first 3 degrees correspond with the green light, alerting you to keep an eye on it. Then, when it hits 4, 5 or 6, it turns yellow, then red, indicating that you are experiencing a probable knock even and that it should be datalogged.
