This thread hasn't been beaten on for awhile... ;)

I crunched some numbers for the 2017 MT-82 vs the D4 version to see which is quicker. As usual, it depends.
The numbers are below but let's say you want the best 0-60; the older xmsn with 3.73 gears is your choice, stay in 2nd right up to about 63 mph. But what if you want 0-70? Now you want the D4 xmsn (with 3.73) because 2nd is good to a little past 70 where with the older MT-82 you have to shift and then go into a gear with less torque multiplication than with the D4. And so on...

The first number is the multiplication; the 2nd is the speed at 7000 rpm
D4 3.73
12.0852 47.70783
7.833 73.60637
5.2966 108.8545
3.73 154.5734
3.0213 190.8313
2.3126 249.3119

2017 MT-82 3.73
13.6518 42.23316
9.0639 63.61044
6.3037 91.46354
4.9236 117.101
3.73 154.5734
2.4245 237.8052
