Figured it out a long time ago with a windshield claim. Turned out to be the most expensive windshield I never paid for. Never again.

This is why I hate insurance companies. I got rear ended and totaled my car and was injured. I got a lawyer to fight the case and I wound up with basicly squat.

Comprehensive Loss and Underwriting Exchange (CLUE) information follows you for life. It's like your credit history, but specific to insurance. Any claim made will be added to the file.

If you'd like to review your CLUE data, contact LexisNexis; they'll provide a copy of what's on file, for free:

https://consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/request

If you'd like to review your credit history, the following site will allow you to do that, for free:

https://www.annualcreditreport.com/index.action

Given time, number of people in the US and claims filed, anyone could have incorrect information in their files.

It's a good idea to review the data once a year.

Edit,

While I do not want to derail the thread, I did want to give some insight into the topic of Telematics.

https://risk.lexisnexis.com/products/telematics-exchange

LexisNexis does have a Telematics program. Several auto manufacturers participate. Telematics information is provided by manufacturers to Lexis and later sold to insurers in one of two ways:

- General vehicle information. For those with Telematics that is active, your vehicle information (sanitized) is provided to Lexis. Lexis then sells this general vehicle profile data to insurers. Insurance companies will adjust polices accordingly. For example, Mustang owners would be expected to pay a higher premium than minivan drivers

- Owner specific information. If the Owner/Operator has signed on to and participates in "safe driver tracking" (whatever you want to call it) program for lower insurance premiums, your specific Telematics information will be given to Lexis, with that data applied to your CLUE file. It could be the data given by Ford, GM or someone else, via their specific programs (GM On-Star is one example). Or it could be directly from you to your insurer, via one of those black box plug-ins

I read of one lawsuit on-going between a driver, GM and Lexis. The suit alleges that when the driver signed up for several GM-sponsored programs, they were not aware that part of the agreement involved the publishing of their specific driving habits to Lexis. The driver had been struggling to receive coverage and became aware of the topic when reviewing their CLUE file.

Hello; A couple of updates. First is the insurance company decided to back off charging me a penalty for the claim about rodents chewing the wires almost three years ago. I went in to get a quote. The quote was not too bad, so I asked if the price would be less next March when my three-year penalty expired. The boss agent came over and informed me he had contacted his boss, and they had decided not to give me a penalty. Kinda, wish they had let me know.

Since last October when I stopped in about a leftover 2025, the saleswoman from the Ford dealership has been keeping in touch. She claimed since it was end of the year they could make me a good deal on a 2026 GT with a manual just in stock. I had to come in before the end of the month. I reminded her I wanted to be OTD for $47 K. Asked that she let me know at closing time that day (Monday) so i could get an early start the next morning. Sure enough an e-mail came in that evening that the car was not sold. I failed to note there was no mention of my price. My bad.
So, I get there bright and early Tuesday. Drove the car and liked most of it. Had a new feature (to me anyway) which tells you to check rear seat when you turn off the car. To check for children. Can be turned off.
We get to the deal making. I repeat my offer thinking that part would be quick. Not so. The man comes back with a deal sheet. $52,593 on a car with a MSRP of $49,700. The end of year discounts was $3,832 so that look OK.
Then came a dealer add on called CYAO of $1,959. I lost focus as the guy was explaining the wonderful things they would do for me so do not recall. I used to call such ADP (added dealer profit)
Then doc fee of $999.95. then taxes and more fees. Lesson relearned again. I did offer to raise my offer $600 as the car had a desired factory spare kit. They let me walk.

About the car. The color is a new one for 2026 Adriatic Blue M. I call t teal. Much the same as a teal popular back in the 80's or 90's. Not a favorite color for me. The color, the spare and a floor mat the only options.
Drove great. The clutch engages too high but i adjusted quick enough. Would like it a bit closer to the floor.
Had the new UBB-C sized input but sensibly also had the older USB input so played my music great even in the base model.
Had black wheels which I do not like. Was told they cannot be switched. (Side note- there was a GT on the lot with white wheels. Different but not to my taste as well.)

Too bad about the deal but a little voice in my head could not picture how they could make the deal I want on a 2026. On a leftover 2025 -maybe. But i guess the idea is to get you in and try to upsell. Not a total loss as i went to McKay's used books, CD's, DVD's, LP's, electronics, camera's, Legos and more. Picked up a new to me Foreigner CD with some good songs. Also learned my insurance penalty is dropped.

Happy new year.

MSRP 58,230 for 49,903 if you're ok with an automatic.

Hello; Not long after I started this thread I did go and drive a 2025 leftover GT with an automatic. There was one at a dealership maybe 25 miles away. Just was not the same experience. Not a bad experience to be sure. No big objection to an automatic, just not as much fun. Were i in city traffic a lot such would be a better choice.
Back in 1967 or 68 a friend had a dark blue GT with the 390 and a manual. Must have created a mind set for me as to what a Mustang ought to be. I could not afford such at the time nor for a long time after.

Thanks for the link. Johnson City is around 100 miles or so away. I do think about an automatic.

Join Mustang Club of America for $40 ("Digital membership - 1 year"), wait 90 days then find dealer that will take X-Plan on car you want... This gives you fixed pricing - Dealer invoice + 0.4% + $375 and added fees capped to $300 max, no bullshit addons. Should make it easier to find the car/pricing you want.

https://www.billbrownford.net/plan-pricing/what-is-the-ford-x-plan
This is what I did when I ordered my 2021 GT Premium per the advice from members on here.Join the Mustang club and get the X plan price at about $2500 below MSRP if I remember correctly…

At that time I just recently retired with a nice nest egg and my philosophy is I won’t be the richest guy in the cemetery.
Good luck on whatever you decide 😎
