Its at redline, but short shifting isn't much of a deal with the peak power at 7,500 and the close ratio box. In fact I'd short shift 1st anyway since hitting the limiter is worse than the short shift and it picks up RPM so fast. The powerband is 4K-8.25K with 6-8K being the heart of it. 4-6K isn't as strong, but don't be afraid of it on a road course as avoiding a shift pays off most times.

Edit: also 0-60 in this car is a absolute mess for a 500hp car. Its very very good when already moving.
Hey xt6, do you mind elaborating on the 0-60 feel? I'm coming from a E92 M3, and that's my only point of reference. Looking to purchase, but wondering if I'm missing out on low end torque. It'll be my daily drive.

The supersports aren't the best tires for standing starts, 1st gear is a mix of too tall and too short, and the clutch is non-linear.

shorter 1st would help with the difficult to launch, taller 1st would get you to 60mph instead of 50mph.

Tires? Well I like the mix but for drag racing you want something easy to heat, and soft sidewalls. supersports are the opposite of that, stiff sidewalls, rubber that is rock hard till warm, and hard to warm.

Clutch is supposed to be much better without the clutch spring, but stock its rubbery and non-linear.

At a real dragstrip, you can heat the tires and use launch control which has a minimum RPM of 4K which means you are at peak torque. Launch control seems much better at modulating power without allowing burnouts than the normal TC.

But mostly its that 500hp cars tend to be supercars where the drama is polished off. The GT350 is geared to be a loud shouty muscle car with burnouts and sideways action at low speeds, and track monster once moving at speed.

Compared to the E92 you won't feel you are missing out in the torque department. Comparatively speaking, yes the 350 doesn't have a lot of low end torque compared to an LS/LT engine, but it still has a 130tq+ peak on the E92, and hence makes more torque lower down as well.

I test drove an E92 manual years ago and loved the linearity of it, and it certainly had a nice high revving, very quick to rev nature to it. The 350's 5.2 is certainly not as rev happy in regards to quickness as the E92, but it's a lot larger displacement so it's to be expected. You'll have no qualms about using the 350 as a daily IMO especially if you are used to a high revving car like the E92. You'll actually find it has boat loads more torque than the car you're coming from, so I wouldn't worry about it if I were you

Perfect! You confirmed my assumptions spot on. Seems like a natural step up in regards to what I'm looking for. Appreciate your input!

Let's say if someone in the near future were to be headed to a local nationally known NHRA drag strip for "legal racing" on the 1/4 mile, would one suggest launch control at 4, 5, or 6K? Then run it to 8250 before shifting to 2, 3, and I'm guessing 4th?
Or, run it to 7k manually and then dump the clutch off the line then just as above for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th?

FWIW, at the track attack they had everyone use LC set at 6k rpm. In my case there was still some wheel hop before finally taking off

How sticky was the track? At Royal Purple it is a super sticky real drag strip.
