Is the Shaker 1000 worth it? Money isn't really the deciding factor for me. I don't want to get the Shaker if it's something I'm going to want to upgrade in the future. Subwoofer isn't a selling point to me either. If the standard audio system will be adequate, I'll probably want to stay there and upgrade myself in the future.

Could use some persuasion if many of you think that the quality is going to be good.

This write up with CNET will show you the evolution of the Shaker System. The original Shaker 1000 was muddy and distorted but thumped. They then improved it with the Shaker Pro(9 speaker) which is what is reviewed in this article. The 2015 Shaker Pro(12 speaker) supposedly has finally made the system complete. The 2015 Standard 9 speaker system will sound the same as this review describes.

"The Mustang GT's real tech showpiece is its Shaker audio system. In CNET's car, that system was upgraded to Shaker Pro, which not only includes two subs in the doors, but another subwoofer in the trunk, making a total of nine speakers. Powered by a 550-watt amp, this system was able to get very loud and output impressive bass. I liked how the system's sound was barely distorted at high volume, and the looks on pedestrians' faces as I rolled by, giving them the thumpety-thump treatment.

However, the system's midrange sounded hollow. All that wattage did not translate into rich vocals or audio in higher frequencies. It was certainly clean-sounding, but I did not derive the same amount of enjoyment from music as I would have from a system with better midrange speakers."

I'll go look for that article. Paying for subpar mid and upper range frequencies does not bode well with me. I'm not buying myself a pair of Beats headphones. I want premium sound if it can be had. That said, I wonder if getting the 12 speakers and having the amplifier already in place would make transitioning to a better set of speakers a better proposition.

So the 9 speakers are also Shaker?

So the 9 speakers are also Shaker?

Remember this is the old system. According to Dave P they have done a complete overall to the system for 2015.

The old systems were known as the Shaker 500 and Shaker 1000.

Now they are labeled as Shaker and Shaker Pro. You're better off getting the 12 speaker and eventually upgrading the systems from the factory mount locations if you don't like. The amps have never been a problem. Mainly the largest downfall for the Shaker 500/1000 were the terribly under powered head units.

MyFordTouch believe it or not really pumps some power. My wife has the Non-Sony sound system in her 2012 Edge and it has thump to it.
