Setting the clock

As we changed to summer time, I changed the clock by anhour which was easy enough to do
But then I see a button to have the clock set to "GPS time". I hit that and it goes back to winter time
I would have thought GPS time would always be the correct time and that you would not need to change the clock yourself

Perhaps it is confused about your timezone? I would say that should be automatic based on your location, but I have no idea how that works.

I saw the same thing and when I clicked it... it changed it back to the wrong time. (I'm in EST). I guess GPS time doesn't follow DST??

I depends on how the software is programmed, usually there is an option to turn on or off DST

And lets not forget the formular for changing to DST changed. It is earlier in the year and later. So we are on DST more months now; than perhaps when the programming was done. How long has Sync been out? TYhey may not have adjusted the programming for the new dates to convert to DST. Long shot I know, but it does make sens.

The software version of this sync was put out after the formula change so it should have no affect (if the programmers thought of this).

I don't think GPS time follows DST. DST was created to save energy. GPS time is set for the satellite system use.

You are correct it actually uses GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) but the software that utilizes the GPS timing signal can be written to adjust for time zone and DST.

If one wants to be pedantic, the GPS signals themselves are in UTC+0 (Universal Time Coordinated) also known as UTZ. Which for all means and purposes is the same as GMT during winter. In fact, for all kinds of technical and physical (relativistic) reasons the actual GPS clock is (as received) running 19 seconds behind at all times.

TL;DR: To convert GPS time to your exact local time requires a computer.

I gathered something of that nature as your explanation was much more detailed. I worked on Tropospheric Radio Transmitters in the Army so I have an idea of how GPS (Stratum 1 timing source) timing works. We mainly used the Rubidium (stratum 2) to time the Tropo systems.
