781 miles on my '18 GT PP1 6MT and this afternoon I took her out, got about 4 miles down the road and heard a loud "clunk" while cruising in 4th. Wrench icon popped up and car went into limp mode and said "selected drive mode unavailable". Couldn't change driving modes. Pulled over, shut her down and restarted, wrench was gone and car felt fine, maybe a little underpowered but that could have been in my head. Went home and shut it off for about 30 minutes. Took the car back out and seems ok. Code 40100 is in the engineering mode. Anyone know what this is? Car is brand new and barely driven.

Well, it happened again today except this time it just threw the wrench icon up and said “see manual”. Car went limp. Pulled over, restarted and wrench cleared. Checked the engineering mode, no new codes. Felt like hesitation or clutch slipping. Weird because the clutch is grabbing, so it might be the wheel bearings? Went right to the dealership and they scanned it, couldn’t find anything other than an “instrument panel connection fail” which wasn’t happening when I got there.

Foreman said bring it back and leave it overnight and they can try to replicate it with the cold start situation since that’s when it’s happening. He also asked if I had a tune and said Ford is checking key cycles these days to see if you the mileage doesn’t match the number of key cycles you would likely have. He also said, “basically, don’t tune it until after your warranty has expired”. Lame.

846 miles on the car and this isn’t something I expected to be honest. I love the car but if it keeps up, I’ll likely get rid of it.

Did this end up happening to you again? I just had the same thing happen to me while in boost. Shut her down, started her back up and was good to go. No idea why this has happened twice now.

Mine ended up being a bad seal on a K&N. Either that or my MAF got fouled by not following the directions of letting the filter dry out after opening the package (more than likely). Cleaned the MAF w/MAF Cleaner and went back to stock filter. Right as rain after that .

Any oil vapor going through the PCV system enters the intake way down stream from the MAF sensor. You running any kind of oiled air filter?

The sensor still could act up - maybe it's flakey - check the electrical connector. Also check all the clamps on the intake system and any hoses connected to the intake system to make sure they are all tight.

True; and yeah its oiled but hasn't been cleaned the past 6-8k miles. I'll check my my intake system, could possible be my BOF or waste gate too. Appreciate the help!
