Seat harnesses/ roll bar

What’s going on guys, as most I always wanted to have race seats but I see no reason to have race seats without seat harnesses and with sear harnesses needing a roll bar. Roll cage would be to extra for me. Anyways anyone in Texas know if seat harnesses and a roll bar are legal? The dps is very vague

See many Miata's with roll bars in your neck of the woods? Then apparently roll bars are legal, or at least prohibitions are not enforced.

What do you mean by "race seats"? We talking serious fixed back seats, or containment seats, or just heavily bolstered aftermarket recliners? Personally I would avoid containment seats for the street because of the reduced peripheral view. I have never heard of anyone getting a ticket for seats however.

You can do one of the DOT legal Schroth harnesses if you are concerned along with recliners and skip the roll bar. This makes for a pretty good autocross & track day setup.

As for a roll bars, I think the rumors of cops targeting them is overblown. I used to know a guy who had a fully caged race car, with plates. Helped him with bedding in brakes, breaking in clutches, etc. with street miles. Again, if you are concerned, just don't use brightly colored contrasting harnesses and roll bars and no one will even be able to tell from much of a difference.

Previous to my current set up I did this for about 2 seasons and it's a great, cheap and easy solution.

However as with anything I wanted more so here I am now lol...
