Hi,

I've recently purchased and installed a Dreamscience STrategem iMap, which is the UK/Euro equivalent of the SCT X4 tuner.

There may be some slight tweaks with the canned tunes to reflect the Euro set up and fuel octane ratings, but in principal it in principal it reflects the SCT canned tunes in that there is a stock tune and a CAI tune to be used with the JLT intake.

There seems to be much debate about how effective a CAI is over the stock airbox and I am inclined to believe that the stock airbox is pretty much optimal.

I therefore wondered how running the CAI tune from the SCT would work with the stock airbox.

Has anyone tried this?

No because you shouldn't. Those tunes are adjusted based on the airflow that the MAF sees and when you introduce values that aren't truly happening, you'll get situations where your car is running really rich. Stick with a tune that is set up for the stock air box.

I thought about the same thing (and just this week installed a canned SCT tune in my otherwise stock GT).

The post above is correct, the tunes for specific intakes are altered from stock to reflect the specific intake's MAF diameter/scaling.

My thought was, since some of the CAI tunes are for intakes which are "no tune required" (stock MAF diameter) why would I not be able to run one since I have an intake tube and high flow filter?

Valid points. Makes more sense to me know.

So if I’m understanding correctly, the important point is that you select an intake system with the same MAF diameter as that that the tune is set up for?

JLT intake doesn’t seem to be stocked by anyone in the UK, and importing gets pricey! There is however a K&N CAI available at a good price, so if it used a MAF of the same down ameter the canned tune based on the JLT intake would be okay?

Likewise, if the those intakes used the stock MAF, presumably the tune would work okay with the stock airbox?
