Do you think this can be patched or will my tire have to be replaced? At least it happened in front of my house and not 30 miles away.

It is almost at the center of the tire. Not near the sidewall.

Yea that should be fine. I hit plenty of screws with my previous mustang and the only ones that couldn't be fixed were those that hit the sidewall.

Funny thing happened to me the other day. I had a nail stuck in the right rear wheel of my stang almost in the same position as OP's. I was sure it would be patched, but Ford told me it needed a brand new tire because the nail was too long (after they "inspected" of course)
I had a tire and road hazard warranty so they gave me a brand new tire. Since it was free I didn't care what they said as long as it got replaced. Though, I too wondered why they didn't just patch it.

Wtf? The length of the foreign object is not a factor. The issue comes with sidewall damage and/or the size of the damaged area. As long as the affected area wasn't ridiculous, it should have been repairable.Interesting...

easy patch on that.

just be carefull. who ever does it will have to dismount your tire to do it correctly. dont want them to mangle your rims.

At least you had the warranty. Based on ford's stance on it, I would have needed two $320 tires already! Glad my local tire repair could do the patching ($15 each time!)
