Scratch/nick on interior door handle

Noticed a scratch/nick on the driver side interior door pull (silver part, is it aluminum?). I've only had the car a couple weeks and don't think I did it, but can't be sure. Will ask about it when I go the dealer with various other fitment issues, but if they won't do something about it, is there any way to buff it out? Since that handle is so shiny, I don't want to make it worse by putting in a bunch of finer scratches or swirls.
