I have a random sat nav question that I've not been able to find an answer to anywhere - does anyone know if the factory sat nav takes account of the car's width?

There are some width restrictions I know about that are too narrow for the mustang, so wondering if the factory nav automatically routes around that

nope, tech is not that clever yet,
it works off the satellites, picks up their signals

Actually.... some stanavs will allow you to put vehicle dimensions in..

Yup, that's what I was thinking of - seems daft that built in sat nav isn't 'aware' of the dimensions of the car it's built in to!

seems like tech has caught up, you learn something new everyday, so no more being taken down tight roads and getting stuck

There are some "truck" versions for HGV's available but since the Mustang isn't really any wider than a mondeo or my old C5 do you really need that option?

Well there are 3 width restrictions the mustang won't fit through in my small town, so I'm sure there are others!
Would be good if the built in nav was aware and routed around them

The at 6'10" width the 2015 Mustang is often too wide for lanes 2 and 3 of motorway roadworks which are usually restricted to 6'6". The prohibition sign is usually a red circle with a white background and thus legally enforceable. The only safe solution is to use lane 1 with all the lorries.

or another massive issue as i found out last night a bendy road where cars decide to park both sides is a nightmare, especially when you get so far and cant get past the van, so have to reverse back round the bends, praying :frusty::frusty:
Mind you put the roof down so I could see better, and managed to get out of there, these cars are very wide, even wider than the S197
when i take her to work, i don't go through the barriers the S197 had issues with the kerb, so this one is parked out on the street, mind you security do watch her, and it gives the tourists a thill !!

Be I trested to know to. I regularly go through there in my Transit custom but I'm not worried about hitting anything in that. Always wondered if I can get the mustang through there. I love this area

Marlow bridge width restriction is 6'6, plus the metal bollards stick out beyond the kurbs into the roadway.
I only got my mustang yesterday, so not tried and to be honest not sure I will after hearing stories of similarly wider than average cars doing their alloys in trying to go through
