S550 vs. 2016 C63 AMG Coupe

Has anyone else noticed how much the new C63 resembles the S550? Practically the same silhouette? The hood has the same creases and the fronts could almost be exchanged without much notice. The major differences are the taillights and size of the actual car. The C63 is slightly smaller.

The resemblence is

due to the fact that Ford is marketing a world car, and is departing from the muscle roots of the Mustang.

Looks somewhat similar, but there are many differences. The new C coupe resembles the S coupe very closely. Mercedes has changed their design language such that the C and E class look like S class, but smaller (same thing with interior).

I don't think Mercedes copied mustang design at all. The current basic design of the new C class is 2 years old. New C63 is just an amazing version of that. If cost was no issue the AMG is the way to go. Loved my previous generation. Now though we are talking about starting at 75k and easily up to 100.

This seams another apples to oranges comparison. As these are not two vehicles that will be crossed shopped. Exterior styling goes to Mustang. Interior to the AMG. Power goes to the AMG but for the price difference I can build a Mustang that will school a Lambo. I've always been if money is no object take the more expensive status car kind of guy. I didn't hit the power ball. So I'll stick with American mucle. You get a lot for not a lot of money at this point!

I think the comparison isn't too far left field if we're talking about the GT350. The GT350 is a competitor to the M4, and the new C63 is a direct competitor to the M4, so why can't you compare the C63 with the 350? Sure the price difference is huge (even greater than the M4) but they should be similar from a performance point of view. And lets be honest, many people who can afford a GT350 can also afford the AMG.

If I read it, there was not a suggestion that one was copying the other. Merely that they look remarkably similar, which they do (but there are only so many ways to design a car, and technology is pushing car companies to similar spaces through optimal shapes needed for low drag, for example. We will likely see more similarities in the future.

Don't forget crash safety standards. The stupid fish mouth over sized grill is a must have design now a days.

No $80k Mustang will school a Lambo. Ever. And seeing as how the comparison was strictly a cosmetic one and they're both 2 door coupes I don't really see how it's apples to oranges. I didn't see a disclaimer in the description where it said the Mustang Vs. thread had to be between vehicles that would be cross shopped with an S550.

Thats not entirely true. The design for the sedan is 2 years old but this is the new coupe design for '16. It looks quite different, and far better in my opinion than the bulbous sedan would suggest. And unless they completely revise pricing you're not looking at anywhere near 100k.

In a straight line any turbo'd Mustang will absolutely rape a Lambo. You do understand a S550 is a 32K car? 48 Grand worth of mods turns it into a full on race car. 80K will also get you a used cobra jet since you like silly comparisons! But hey, your right. No disclaimers? So what are your thoughts on a S550 Vs. a Yugo? How bout a S550 VS a Smart car? What other silly comparisons can we make simply because this is the VS section? I highly doubt the models I just mentioned will be crossed shopped! So since you like to compare anything and everything. I can't wait for your next enlightening opinion.
