Hi, I have a 2019 GT only premium. I have taken it to Road America 2 times for track days. Both days the car didnt go into limp mode but lost all power and had sluggish shifts for the 10 speed. after about 10-15 minutes each session of 25. I was using 5w20 that ford put in at my oil change. my cylinder head temps were fine maybe got to 230 the highest. the trans temps shot wayyy up though. I have put the PP radiator in but thats really it for cooling for engine. trouble is the trans oil. i plan on using 5w30 or 40 this time & grabbing a mishimoto oil cooler. Will the mishimoto oil cooler solve the trans oil problem? Would the sluggish shifts of the 10 spd be the differential? or trans oil temp? im honestly so confused & want this to work! I was wondering if anyone has had any luck doing this? im so bummed it is happening so im trying everything to get it working right at the track for 25 minute sessions. thanks !

Were you there last week? Temp where cooler and I cant believe you would have issues. I would start with coolers and see where that takes you. Seems odd however.

Kind of sounds like limp mode. Are you going to redline and maybe downshifting to early?

No in fact it would make it worse.

For one, the transmission cooling system is completely separate from the engine cooling system, so any improvements that you do to reduce engine temps mean nothing for the transmission. Back in the day when the trans cooler was integrated with the radiator and the engine, installing a bigger radiator or cooling the engine otherwise did have a positive impact on the tranmission. Not so much now when they are separate.

Second, by placing yet another cooler in front of the trans cooler, that is only going to make it less efficient. You want to make sure that you put the oil cooler down as far as possible where the lower grill opening is so that all the hot air it produces doesn't wash out over the trans cooler which sits up top. There was a member on here who installed a Mishimoto oil cooler which sat right in line with the trans cooler and it made it worse.

Ideally you should get a bigger dedicated cooler for the trans and place it in front of the condenser for maximum air flow. But that requires some custom fabricating and routing.

Another thing to try is short shift as much as you can to keep revs lower, which will keep temps down.

Will the mishimoto oil cooler solve the trans oil problem?

Have a friend with a 2018 PP1 10R80 and he too took it to RA and encountered the same fate. Its a trans overheating issue.

Right? The weather was perfect but I still was for some reason. The 10 spd is just too much action I feel like. I think I

you think it happens to the 10 spd camaro too or you think that cooling system would make it run .

The Camaros don't overheat their A10s, but they have different cooling solutions than the Mustang and also don't rev out as much.
