I'd take the Rspec over the darkhorse but i think a third choice would be nice , I'd take a Mach1 over both of them just not a grey one , did they ever sell mischevious Purple ones in OZ ? Thats what i'd seek . Leave you around $20k to spend on accoutrements

Ok on further research no purple , in that case twister Orange ...

Set of HP sized bling wheels , Slight suspension drop and E85 flex tune , thats perfection

There is a blue one on carsales with The bling wheels , 20k km and probably get for 90k driveaway , 6 months warranty left . Pre depreciated , only way is up

I thought the mach1 was pretty cool too but correct me if I'm wrong but its a 10kw increased power with tribute colour/sticker job, for about 10k difference when new?

I too was looking at the bullit when it first came out and am a bit surprised its price hasn't increased as much....

Maybe all s550s in Australia are just too common, since we dont have shelbys

Bullit a great option as well for sure , We certainly got the watered down mach1 here but i think the rarity is key especially in the not so popular colors , i thought they were > than 10k more than a GT ? maybe i thought wrong . 2 years back they were all listed at 120k used and now can get one for 90 . 700 Mach1 sold , 1000 dark horse , not sure on Bullits , Ok 700 Bullits sold as well

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 FN is a high-performance variant of the sixth-generation Mustang (FM/FN) featuring a 5.0L V8 engine, enhanced aerodynamics, and performance parts borrowed from Shelby models like the Tremec 3160 manual transmission and an oil cooler system

Google says

There were 700 Mustang Bullitt models made for Australia, with all of them being part of the global release for the 2019 model year. The first of these vehicles arrived in September 2018, and final deliveries took place in July 2019.

  • Total units: 700
  • Model year: 2019
So rarer than dark horse
It appears bullits with very low kms are 83k-85k +orc from a 74k+orc price , (i didn't realise bullits were marginally higher when new :)

S550 R-Spec -

Pros - More power than you will know what to do with, somewhat rare, final assembly completed within one of Ford's remaining facilities in Broadmeadows. Subjective, but the exterior styling was better balanced and muscular.

Cons - Manual only, and it's the crappy MT-82 as well. Those things are known to go bang with stock power, so I'm not sure how Ford managed permit so much power going through it. Apart from the stripes and badges, the rest of the styling changes were taken from the Ford Performance parts catalog, so not especially bespoke. Same applied to the exhaust, which wasn't as good as the standard Active Exhaust, and the other mechanical changes.

S650 Darkhorse -

Pros - Also somewhat rare, but also more differentiated to the GT. Superior brakes with Brembo's all round, a more durable crankshaft from the S550 GT-500. The MT-82 made way for the Tremec TR3160 gearbox, automatic also available. Superior steering and chassis feel, Magneride too. I also find the S650 has a nicer steering wheel.

Cons - Not as pretty, the Darkhorse at least looks suitably mean. Interior plastics are even cheaper than S550, likewise paint quality. While you get used to it, the giant screen lacks the character of the S550.

Retained value wise, I'd probably say the Darkhorse will have a slight edge over the R-Spec, simply because it's a factory completed vehicle rather than Ford firing the parts cannon at a GT and put together by an external contractor.

Either way, you'll have fun in either.

been keeping an eye on Mach1 prices and it appears they have dropped in price a bit, surprised,
there are a few examples of sub 20k auto/manual , there are currently about 6 examples around $85k +ORC
If i recall, retail was about $84k+ORC new so essentially same price as new
