S550 mirror cap removal

Okay. The search feature is returning info on 8.8 rearends which doesn't help me.
Can someone tell/show me how to remove my outside rear view mirror caps without fucking something up?
They're the turn indicator style on my 23 Mach1.
Here's pics of what the new ones look like inside.
Those j hooks make me nervous.
YouTube vids didn't have those.

Hey thanks a lot. You definitely helped.
I found several other similar threads and after reading them all I've got a better grasp of the technique.
Apparently those 2 J hooks which are on both of my newly purchased pre painted ones, aren't on ALL the mirror caps.
Wether broken off or missing some other way, who knows?
Apparently they serve no purpose that I can figure out.

Apparently those 2 J hooks which are on both of my newly purchased pre painted ones, aren't on ALL the mirror caps.

I noticed that in some of the thread photos. In one, the hooks did not appear to be used. In another, I saw the hooks on one side cap, but not the other.

I suspect Ford uses as few cap designs as possible. While not used in the Mustang, the hooks might help on another model, with more options, for cable, sensor routing or something.

Well that was a bit of a pain in the ass.
But now it looks like I wanted it to.
And the J hooks don't do squat.
Left em on on one side, took em off on the other.
And the originals didn't have them on either side.
