I don't understand why the reflectors are amber. Look at reason for rejection point c. http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_150.htm
This applies to the rear reflectors (located just above the exhaust pipes on the Mustang). The orange reflectors are "side markers" (we don't normally have these in the UK).

I'm not overly concerned about police or MOT. In general, police aren't over zealous with things like this and an MOT fail over a sticker is easily corrected. What concerns me is the possibility of the insurance company not paying out on the basis that I've done something illegal or hazardous.

Insurance is fine as it's theoretically a reversible change so doesn't need to be disclosed to them (You can reverse tints/wraps etc).

If you were to get rear ended and you were worried about insurance, you just have to cough up to re-tint that section as they'll replace it back to OEM.

Legality, no idea, but i doubt a police man will notice it, and i doubt mr.mot service man will have a clue.
Pretty sure EVERY modification should be delacred for insurance. I have decalred my stubby Aerial on my 350z. You don't want to give an insurance company any excuse!

Edit to add that's not the only mod I had to declare there are a lot of others.

My GT deck lid upgrade was from Newtakeoff. http://www.newtakeoff.com/2015_ford_mustang_rear_trunk_lid_blackout_panel_witth_gt_emblem.aspx

It was very difficult to remove the original as one clip just seemed to never want to let go.

Total cost including shipping $158.99 via UPS which took about a week.

Arrived in looked to be genuine Ford shipping packaging with lots of foam padding.
That looks great. This will be one of the first things I do. Was thinking about using this mob to. So was it in perfect condition then

Those look great and kudos for wasting no time in taking care of business!

Personally, I'm not too offended by the 'faux cap' so its low priority. I think the real cosmetic issue that lets the car down is the 1980's grey plastic trim (splitter, 'running boards' etc.). These are only going to look worse with age, no matter what products we use on them.
ACF50 will keep the plastics good as new for many, many years.

If it's good enough as a surfactant for the aerospace industry, I think it should cope with a Ford plastic splitter ;)

Not so. Any mod should be declared reversible or otherwise.

As another poster said, insurance companies will look for any way out of a claim if they can.

Could be a very expensive decision.

I declared the deck lid change to Direct Line and no effect on my ÂŁ157.68 insurance premium. :)

Did you get charged an admin fee though? When I put a personalised plate on my current car they charged me ÂŁ15 to put it on the insurance.

Direct Line have never charged me for a registration plate change. Most don't; some do.

There was no admin fee from Direct Line for changing the deck lid emblem or for the personalised plate which is the only registration that car has ever had. Both items were agreed with before taking cover. Direct Line also said that there would be no admin fees for any changes to the policy.

Maybe I will have to change my insurance over to direct line then.
