As the title of the thread says I heard a rumour regarding issues with Mustangs that are hitting our shores. This is of course third hand information originated from a mechanic from a Ford dealership.

It has been 'rumoured' that there are many issues with paint peeling and transmission problems.

I hope this is just bullshit but has anyone heard anything similar?

Maybe some paint blemishes but the transmission is no different than the American version. You would think if there were issues it would affect all mustangs

Well I personally believe if such issues were apparent then there would have been some feedback written in the Australian section of this forum. As I said previously I think it's bullshit originating from some jealous prick.

Maybe when they mirrored the manual gate pattern for RHD they ran into issues?

If I may suggest something. Don't place too much emphasis on rumors. Issues on the forum tend to be magnified a bit much. Wait until you get your car and see. I have an early production Mustang I have had had NO big issues whatsoever. No transmission problems, no paint issues, etc. The only thing I have had is just some panel alignment issues that unless you are looking for it, you will not see right away and to me, that has always been typical of Fords here in the states.

My car's paint and body alignment was pretty damm good - I couldn't find any issues with them.

as far as the transmission - also no issues (BTW mine is a manual gearbox).

I have seen a thread with many Auto transmission issues for mainly the V6...and a handful of GT's

and there is one thread where an ecoboost blew 2 holes out of the engine block. This car was lightly modded and had an aftermarket tune in it, not likely to be a stock problem.

I don't think either of those issues resulted in a recall, I have not been following that section much to be honest.

You pretty much have to have the BS sensors on full power every time you venture out into the interwebs these days. I read another story just this morning claiming that production of the Jeep Wrangler would end next year. Of course lots of people will click on that with horror but there was nothing in the story to substantiate it, and of course they are still hugely popular worldwide, with confirmed plans for a pickup version in the next few years.

That Mustang story was even less credible, given what we all know about it. The picture looked like it might have been one of the alternative designs that didn't make the cut.
