Thanks for the replies. Basically some suggest one thing and others suggest another. I want to go FP/Roush as i want to keep my GT as stock as possible, I am not sure if Ford honour the warranty like they do in the USA but even if they dont (which i suspect, i am at early stages of looking in to all this) its still more of a Ford approved upgrade than the whipple, although i am open to being corrected and if the whipple is a better choice maybe i will go down that route instead.
I dont want to change the wheels for aftermarket ones or appearance of the car unless its with Ford Performance parts.
I am not going to track it or drive it hard all the time, i just like the idea of turning the GT into the animal it can be with a SC.
. It's just an idea at the moment nothing more than that, if costing run to £15k for what is required i wont bother, £10k-12k maybe.
12k new fitted by someone else wont be enough to bring the whole car up to where its needs to be. Otherwise it really will be an animal and you will find that you will dislike driving it. Driving it hard is impossible in cold, or wet or damp. Speed wise 2nd into 3rd you are already doing 80 with wheelspin. if you don't upgrade tyres and rear end, I wouldn't even do the SC. Honestly, spend that money on suspension and you will get much much more fun out of it. Maybe a lund tune.
if you change your mind, first thing you can do is to not listen to ANYBODY who doesn't have a supercharger and give more weight to people who have done an install themselves and have lived with the car. Secondly, what are your power goals? if they are around the 725 to 750 mark or (600 wheels auto or 640 wheels manual), go with a kit that you like the look of. They will ALL get you there. In the UK, you will be limited to a pump gas 93 tune. So you wont be going past 10/11psi of boost. Im running 10psi with a CARB legal emissions tune and im happy.
Wheels, go with GT350 alloys imported from the states if you want to keep ford parts. (they are very good and will allow you to put some meaty tires on)
I would seriously say do the install yourself if you are handy with a wrench. The savings are huge plus you can buy the tools that you may be missing to keep and do it the right way.
