Relax, we all drive Mustangs. I suppose you have no sense of humor. I give you permission to bag on my GT. Give it your best shot, it won't upset me.

A torque wrench? LOL.

What disappoints me more is that someone would think you need a torque wrench to tighten two little bolts holding on an exhaust tip. In most shops, techs use an impact for just about anything. They are not putting on cylinder heads. Torque wrench!!!! :headbonk:

Mike
Just trying to imply that the shop technician might be doing more damage than good by using a pnuematic gun to overtorque the bolts. Bolts are rated at a certain tensile strength and with the amount of heat, vibration and elements from the road and weather those bolts are exposed to I'm sure they don't need any additional abuse like being way overtorqued. When a bolt is tightened with a nut it stretches which is why it has a tensile strength rating. When it is overtightened it stretches more than it was designed for and weakens. Over time this could be a bad thing especially on something like a muffler which probably doesn't have the thickest material to start with.

The electronic torque wrenches that Ford uses on their assembly line as well as their independent suppliers use have Beta Techs to measure torque readings on everything from a bolt in a power steering assembly to a bolt on a door panel. If something is overtorqued it's a fail, no questions asked and that bolt or nut is scrapped. I don't see any reason why Quality should end just because the vehicle has left the factory and is at a dealership where you're paying $80.00 an hour for labor for a technician with access to the tools and equipment that are required to do the job properly as well as have received training from Ford.

Okay, either I'm going mad or my tastes have changed in the last week, but this exhaust is growing on me.

Still think I like RIP Tuning the most.
