Slightly over an inch drop from stock. You don't get a 1 to 1 drop in the rear like you do in the front. I think moving the collar an inch gives about 1/4 - 3/8 drop.

Guys your rear shock ride height should be 12.5" from bolt to bolt. Anything else and we need to consider springs rates or taller top mount

How can there be only 1 ride height?

If the car is to low then preload can be added by threading the spring retainer up to achieve ride height. On 2.6” - 4” stroke shocks, up to 1.5” of preload is acceptable. On 5-7” stroke
shocks, up to 2.5” of preload is acceptable. If more preload is needed to achieve ride height a stiffer spring
rate is required. Too much preload may lead to coil bind, causing ride quality to suffer.

I had Steeda Linear sport springs before that supposedly had a 1" drop, I am trying to get to the same height.

Yes. And spent a couple of days tuning on it. I haven't moved the collars, just experimented with the rebound.

If your not looking for a big drop, we can put a new mount on top to help. Most kits are designed to give a 2.5 inch drop.

There isn't only one ride height I'm just providing the perfect shock measurements for ride quantity. You have a 1/2" outside of these for tuning. Anything after these ride quality could suffer.

Do you know how much preload gives you that 12.5" from bolt to bolt? With a 400 spring that is included in the kit.

Sorry I don't know the answer to that. I would start with 1" of preload and see where it gets you. Most kits are designed to have 0 to 1/2 preload. But there are ways to get where you want to go, just extending the shock out of its performance range won't help.

The rear shock on the s550 kits is a 4.1 shock. 12.5" should be ride height, the shock will only extened to 14.23" (this would be topped out internally) and would damage the shock over time. Just don't go that far.

Preload is just that... its pre loading the spring, it doesn't change the rate as long as the spring being used is linear and not progressive. I dont anyone that would use a progressive rate on a coilover system.

Preloading the spring does affect travel though.

No. I've been asked this a couple of times lately. It is close, but I've got approx 3/8 clearance on both sides work no marring or marking on the boot or shaft. It's close but they don't touch

Looks like it would rub if you had less preload, Bill from CJ Pony parts has 1/2" preload and he said it doesnt rub. Mine rubs with less than 1.5" of preload.
