Do you know what I think is funny?

Driving along in heavy traffic (coming from work mainly), and another Mustang pulls up close to you, and revs really long and hard, so you can hear their exhaust.

Why on earth do people do this? Am I supposed to rev back (that's never going to happen) or something? May this merely a Mustang thing...

Why else would you want a high revving performance car?

I would not rev long and hard at any driver, but I have been known to give a little blip to other mustangs that I see. I usually get a little blip back from them. I see it as a friendly "hello, nice car".

I think it's pretty awkward thing to do. Last time I checked throwing up a few fingers or a thumbs up works just as well.

I've had it happen several times. I also think it's just a way to say 'Hello'.

Kidding aside, I consider it a friendly jester as well. Motorcycles and myself will blip the throttle at each other in the streets around where I live sometimes followed by a thumbs up. I do think its more of a gearhead thing and not just a Mustang thing...

I've done it, but only to people that I know, and people that I know will rev back.

I can't imagine ever doing it to a stranger - even if they are driving the same car is me. A little wave while passing would do

Man some people just take things too seriously sometimes. I love when people rev a little bit and if it is as traffic is just flowing, it's a quick hello type of thing. Why else would you have your windows down other than to be enjoying the sounds of driving? Too damn hot here for any other reason.

Revving it is better than road rage I guess.

Just a little friendly "Hello, fellow gearhead!" That's all. Happens to me all the time and I do it back. Most stock Mustangs I run across that do it just want to hear the modded exhaust. If we're in traffic they'll ask brand and all that.

Welcome to performance cars, I guess? This is very normal.

Strangely, Mustangs never rev at me. It's always a Vette, Challenger, or Camaro that revs.

I usually just throw a thumbs up to fellow Mustang drivers or just nice cars in general. I rarely get acknowledged back though (awkward).

This (above) is how I generally perceive it, just a quick "nice ride" type thing. Alternatives are a thumbs up or a nod... however if they give ya the middle finger, or catch you at a stop light and aggressively rev it probably means something else ;)

I started noticing it after getting my mustang, kinda figured that was going on. Takes some forethought if you are not used to doing it. Mostly cars in oncoming lanes usually stopped, but sometimes when moving. I can’t figure out the moving part though. Are you supposed to throw it in neutral and coast so you can rev back and then go back into gear? Seems like that’s what they must be doing?

You can rev it in gear. Push the clutch in, rev it until your heart is content, let off the gas and slowly let the clutch out as the revs are almost finished dropping to match the speed of that gear.

Sometimes I turn heads just rev matching normally. The Roush axle back is plenty loud and I'll just be driving normally and some Camaro/Challenger/Tuner car etc will roll up like "Let's run!" and I'm like I'm just picking up milk but thumbs up.

Sometimes when I'm in traffic and I'm bored I throw it in neutral and rev the piss out of it. Sometimes I can be an a hole like that XD

Also love going slowly in traffic under overpasses and through tunnels. I always put my window down and rev a bit. Love that sound.
