About a month ago i had my clutch replaced and ever since then my reverse lockout rattles. I’ve seen the video where they pull it apart and put heat shrink under the spring, but that’s not the issue mine has. Mine is the actual plastic piece that you grab into and pull up on. Anybody have any idea if there’s an easy way to fix this, or if a part is missing from the install? Would a new shift boot come with it if it is?

I watched a video of disassembling it to see if mine was missing anything and it looks like there should be a white retainer, mine just

Pics attached for reference. The red arrow shows where it is loose on the shaft, and the blue arrow shows the white retainer looming piece that mine doesn’t have.

Mine rattles but that’s because I installed a shifter bracket. If you pull up on the collar, does the rattle go away? I also put the billet collar on and it didn’t change anything. Also, could you post the video you referenced about the heat shrink?

Sorry for the delay. Yes, if I pull up on it it stops the rattle. After watching a install video on cjpp, I came to the conclusion the little white plastic piece was in fact missing. I cut a piece of rubber to put in its place and it completely stopped the rattle.

Here is the video. This didn’t apply to mine, it was just the piece you pull up on. Mine is a 2017, and looks different than his in the video.

Nice, thanks. I follow him, I must’ve just missed that video. I’ll probably pull it apart tomorrow and see what I can figure out. If I pull up on the collar, the noise goes away as well. Once I installed the billet collar, I’d venture to say it got a little worse, which makes sense if the noise is coming from the collar vibrating against the shaft. I’ll see what I can find tomorrow

Fixed my rattle this evening. The rattle was coming from the reverse lockout rattling against the shift lever. I removed the spring and lockout collar to put the shrink wrap on. But the lockout collar wouldn’t slide over the wrap. So I took a rounded file and enlarged the whole just enough for it to slide over the wrap. Then when I tried putting the spring back on, it fit so tightly that it wouldn’t push the lockout collar back down after being pulled up. So I greased the shrink wrap and flipped the spring for shits and giggles) and it all move smoothly. Took the car for a ride before putting everything back together and the rattle is 100% gone.

After putting the shrink wrap on and with everything having less “play” on the shifter lever, pulling the reverse lockout up feels more substantial. By no means is it hard to pull up on, but it doesn’t feel as cheap. Kinda hard to put into words. I guess with the tolerances being smaller, it just feels a better
