Anyone try this yet?
May take away needed ground clearance.

I used the version american muscle sells. You lose at least an inch maybe closer to 2” of nose ground clearance (when retracted). This was very evident when nosing into or out of an incline/decline. It did rub and more than once I jumped out to confirm it was not ripped off, and my car is not lowered. It has since been removed.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts.

I purchased the Sto and Show for my GT and had lots of scrapge issues... Switched To Craigs Custom Bracket.. love the placement as it's perfect and doesn't look "off" Plus protects a portion of my bumper during highway driving!... never had an issue with the 3m tape bracket. Have had it on all 3 of my stangs...

Can you explain how that is better for clearance than the sto and sho bracket? They both mount to the center bolt that holds the front spoiler on.

Craigs custom bracket mounts to the underside of the front bumper with 3m adhesive tape. It is positioned above the lower grill area and sits directly on the front bumper...
Here are some pics of the main mount on the underside of my 350 I did not put the plate on becuase it was time for winter storage.... but here is a picture of the license plate on my 2017 GT Vert

The sto-n-sho mounts to the center bolt that holds the front air spoiler in place. The bracket puts the plate directly in front of the grill just about that spoiler. There is another bracket "Craig's bracket" that is attached to the underside of the bumper such that the license plate is in front of the bumper pretty much in the place it would be if you had the dealer screw the plate into the bumper.

I am wondering if the sto-n-sho mounts could instead be mounted under the bumper like Craig's bracket as long as you're okay with drilling the two holes on the underside of the bumper (out of view).

My first GT i had the sto-n-show, that is why I made the commend about scraping... I had a few instances where it did scrape.
just sat too low for my tastes both functionally and asthetically
If there is enough material on that underside to secure it that would be the question...

Well that Craig Bracket is on the underside of the bumper. It just uses some 3M Super Strong Sticky Tape and No Screws. I am wondering if the sto-n-sho would work and be a strong solution to the problem.

Plus, I am hearing that the plate being in front of the grill blocks air flow and cooling. which having the plate in front of the bumper like the dealer screw job would correct.

yes, you are correct on all assumptions. The craigs system works well you just have to remove the plate when either washing the vehicle with a power washer (which you would want to anyway to clean the bumper) and tracking the vehicle at excessive speeds (100+mph), which once again the front plate would normally be removed.

In my enthusiasm and wanting to be prepared, I already bought the sto-n-sho bracket. What I am wondering is if it would work to mount it under the bumper where the Craig System mounts using the two screws instead of into the front spoiler. The questions are is the bumper material strong enough to take the two screws and the bracket/plate and would the position be correct - similar to the Craig version which is in front of the bumper which I think looks better in terms of more centered.

So, is the Position and the bumper strong enough to take the two screws and the constant weight of the bracket and plate ?
