Don't forget your dealer code. Hey since you're a new member how'd you hear to order an '18?
I just googled mustang forums once i decided to buy a mustang...my kid is the age where he doesnt need strollers. So i thought now is the only time i can get a mustang where he is still small enough to fit in the back and yet not too small that he needs a stroller everywhere. I didn't really compare mustang to any other car, except maybe Audi S5 convertible for a while, but then i scolded myself for the thought and bought the mustang.

Just register with my auto checker and it'll notify you when it sees your order on cotus, and order number is the four digit code, which might include an alphabet in it, the dealer code is always an alphabet with another five digits.
i cant access google docs from my work computer. Will add in my info from home. Thanks for the sweet tool.

Could your script be a "significant" contributor to the problem? :D
If checking a few orders once an hour crashes the server... I do hope it's my script is causing that, that'll teach them a lesson to get better servers. :D

So I should be able to see something in the system by now? I ordered on 20 Dec.
Might take a few days...I went to the dealer on 12/3, the order was placed on 12/5, and by 12/8 I had a VIN and was able to find the car on COTUS.

Did you order a coupe or convertible? Maybe convertibles take longer given winter?

Or better programmers. Smells like the result of sloppy programming not properly closing database connections when they get an error.

the order number is just 4 numbers right? Do i need to enter my last name or does it work with that field blank?
Their stupid program requires a name in there although it doesn't really matter what it is right now. Again, bad programming.

Just to see how it works, do this: Go to the Ford site and do an inventory search. Pick a Mustang from the inventory of your dealer and copy the VIN. Now put the VIN into the COTUS site and you should get the page for that Mustang.

If it fails it's a problem with COTUS assuming that you copied the VIN correctly. Refresh and resubmit until you get a result.

Check the listed Dealer Code against what your searching with to make sure it's correct. The order code is also listed so if you want to try searching with the order and dealer codes that should work also.

I think COTUS will return a result once your order is accepted in order processing. But you won't get a VIN until a few weeks before production. Order acceptance and VIN generation are two separate things.

If COTUS finds your order in the system, but there's no VIN issued yet, the error message is "A matching vehicle could not be determined. Please contact your dealer to get status updated about your order.". It clearly states there is an order, but can't find anything useful about it.

If the order isn't in the system yet, you'll get "No matching vehicle found. Please verify your input and try again.".

Thanks for the correction. I wasn't able to see my order during that time because it was a duplicate order number. Since it was in the system I assumed that it would come up if you didn't have a duplicate order number.

Another case of COTUS being more stupid than it needs to be. Ford could do us all a favor and just return the same status blurb that dealers get.

well, that information has "ford confidential" or something like that at the bottom.:lol:

And yeah, totally forgot there's that duplicate order number thing... how can you put two cars under one order? It's not Amazon where you can order multiple things with one order.

anyways, the ideal way to order cars should be what hyundai (genesis) is doing in some Canadian cities, you request test drive, then they send you a car in a glass container to try it out, then you can decide weather you want to order one. And you get it delivered to your doorstep if you order one. Or maybe tesla's online ordering system, no dealers involved.

Mine says the same thing... told my dealer to place the order on 12/14. So maybe since they aren’t issuing VINs this holiday week we’ll get a flood of them next week. At least I now have hope it is in the system!
