If your Mustang was one of the 4,000 that is/was being 'held' for what ever reason, would you be kind enough to report any quality control problems which showed up when the car was delivered.
My convertible is still being 'held' since the first week of February. Ford Service could not determine when it would be released for shipment.
I am worried that Flat Rock will be so rushed to get the cars out that they will not take the time to check on any other QC problems but the one(s) that kept them in the factory.
My dealer does not provide a free loaner for warranty service. I don't want to have to pay for a rental car or taxi multiple times while they try to fix a slew of problems.
If I find that the 'held' cars are being delivered with problems after sitting for a month in Flat Rock, I will probably cancel my order.

I was told by multiple sources (Rachel, my dealerships general manager, his zone manager) that all cars that were on hold were released. However, that doesn't mean they are in transit yet, just they moved to the "Awaiting shipment" step. And as annoying as it is and how little sense it makes, even if you car had been sitting in "Awaiting Shipment" since 2/4 in COTUS, it is now "officially" awaiting shipment from Ford. So you should see activity soon, I hope.

I Was in the same boat, the wait is unbearable.

I just want to clear this up so there are not any misunderstandings, LHousePhoto. I have not told you that all of the vehicles on hold have been released as not all of them have. The plant is starting to release them and I'm already seen a few switching to transit, but not all of the 4,000.

I'm unable to speak for what you've been told by the other sources, but I did want to make it clear what the information I provided was. Your particular Mustang was released officially into "Awaiting Shipment."

Mine still hasn't been released into "awaiting shipment" yet so I probably will not receive it before your receive yours but...

Why is everyone being so paranoid about problems with their cars? Everyone does understand that if there would not have been this "hold" on that one week worth of vehicles, they would not be under the scrutiny that they are currently getting, right? If your car would have been shipped right away, would you still be this concerned? And if that answer is yes, then making sure your dealer provides a loaner during warranty repairs should have been a question asked before you ordered your car.

I would say why people are not happy are for the following reasons.

Cars were finished in the first two weeks of February and went on hold for reasons that are still unknown. The only thing we know is it could of been or was a Quality Control. However vehicles built after 2/10 were shipped out. Which leads to another concern.

Why are those cars shipping and there is no rush to ship out the cars that have been stalled? It's fine if they continue production as normal, but a whole month to finally release the cars on hold is a little long. Now lets air it on the side that they thoroughly checked them for problems. Shouldn't they get a priority shipping to dealerships because this was an unexpected stoppage on the plant's part.

Another problem is this, other members have already had various issues with their vehicles (maybe it's a minority or a majority, it's hard to tell without a nation wide poll). But if members part of holds receive their cars in less than perfect stance, then that's an outrage. No vehicle ever should be shipped with issues, but to have a hold and a month time to ensure the vehicles are perfect and still have issues? Absurd.

So bottom line, the people are not happy because of the lack of information. Even the "higher ups" who had contacted the plant know less or nothing compared to what has been "found out". So why is it the plant cannot give out a correct or real information? That makes people question Ford's credibility.

So people still are not happy because those who don't have a weight, are still getting cars with issues.

While people may seem impatient, some of them are generally concerned receiving a car that will then have to be repaired even after this long wait. Which while you are right, a rental should of been included, doesn't mean that we should have to prepare to receive a less than perfect car. And for those that this has happened to, I imagine are not happy at all. You buy a new car because it's what you want/new, or because you don't want a car you'll have to fix right away.

1. A quality hold could be they had one connector they realized the torque was off on. Once they found it they have to check all the cars since the last calibration point on that tool.

2. It's much easier to make a fix on cars that have not been built yet, which is way cars that came off the line later shipped first.

3. The cars are stored outside. Can you imagine having to clean quite a few inches of snow off of 4000 cars with daytime highs in the single digits? It's going to slow things down.

4. The quality hold cars are not going to be any better or worse in overall quality than any other cars. The one or two things they had quality checks on will be checked and probably nothing else.

5. This happens at all manufacturers. Usually you just don't see it because you don't have real time tracking.

6. If you don't want to wait just buy a car off the lot. If you are only worried about a perfect car then inspect your car when it comes before signing to buy it. If you want both start searching inventory to find the exact options you want and inspect car after car until you find a unicorn.

The amount of "I don't even want the car because they had to QC it for something" is way too high around here. :headbonk:

My big problems with the hold of cars and no information about a delivery date!

1) I had my truck sold last. That would have great for me because I would have got $1000 more than my dealer was giving me. I didn't sell it because I have no clue when my car will arrive. So I could have sold it got a rental and lost that $1000 and even more now that the car won't be here till late March if I'm lucky. I still have no date on delivery!

2) I ran my credit to finalize a deal and now that's it's taking so now I'm going to run my credit again. I'm a person with a 823 credit. I take my credit very seriously! I don't like running my credit 2 times for 1 thing. I know some people think it's no big deal with running your credit for a purchase. Sometimes rates go up!

At 823, another check probably won't make it go down. And even then, not enough to matter.

Rachel, How many (rough estimate) of the 4000 are being released to awaiting shipment each day?

I know but I'm buying my wife a new car later this year. So I know I'll be running it once or twice again this year. I just don't like it.

Each to their own. We can squabble for what we know and think all day. But neither you nor myself or anyone else knows anything. And I certainly hope you're not aiming any of those lists towards me. As if you were to reread what I wrote. I was explaining in general what has been the common concerns. I believe everyone is entitled to a perfect car despite the brand/cost. Accepting that a car will come with issues is being defeated. If you accept terrible work, then the terrible work will be the normal after awhile. Look at a lot of things and how they are built. Look at our food system. We accept terrible food because we had gotten use to it being the normal. Go to Europe or other places where quality matters, and there's a huge difference.

I also have never seen anyone say they don't want the car because of QC. There has been one? maybe two? people who canceled their order and got one off the lot that I'm aware of.

Why in the world would you let them run your credit for a car that didn't exist yet? How did they talk you into that?

Could be like me - I got a pre-approval from my credit union before I went to test drive in case I found something. I didn't know I was going to order until after that.
