Anyone with a GT350 considering buying wider rims and tires in the R sizes as replacements? I would have to assume you will get better grip on the track.

Thoughts?

It's all about the tires, you can run 305 front 315 rear cup 2s on the stock gt350 wheels without an issue.

My plan is to do 19x11 all the way around so not quite R sizes but close. 305 square for racing and then the 295 305's for the street.

I've considered this but I was thinking it would change the balance of the car. It's so good as is. For me as a novice I would rather not have a track car with a tendency to oversteer.

Maybe it's my driving experience...? But I can definitely detect the understeer characteristic. It's very safe though, you're right. I don't have new wheels yet but I just recently put 305/30-19 Hankook RS3 V2's on my car. Despite the 10.5 front 11 rear widths, it's working just fine and it's biting harder in the front. Once I figure out a 19x11 on all 4 corners option, I'm going to switch my RS3's onto those and put my Super Sports back on the factory wheels for DD'ing and the 19x11's for racing.

The car will be getting its true test this weekend though. Lots of autocross.

If one has the money, a great option. If we're splitting super tiny hairs, I actually think the 11 front 11.5 rear is actually too wide for the 305 and 315 setup. I like the idea of 10.5 on a 305 and 11 on a 315 to 325. I like to try to get more than 1" of tire wider than the wheel and no more than 2" at the very most.
