Ok, so I was once the owner of a 1994 Z28. When I bought it, it had some exhaust modifications. Either the CAT was removed or the entire exhaust I dont remember, but I do remember the sound was amazing.

What affect would that have on the sound and performance of an EcoBoost?
I am looking for a louder and/or deeper growl.

If we could just look past the legality of such things that would be great.

Thanks!

Any "Off Road" pipe will remove the cat. As to whether or not that would make it more growly, I can't be sure.

I am going to remove the mufflers and resonator and run a strait pipe setup and just have the cat
if you want a good idea what that sounds like on a 4 cyl with no cats full 3 inch strait exhausts:

If you just remove the cat, you won't get much more noise or growl out of the stock cat-back. It'll mostly be turbo whistling that you'll hear. If you want a nice, deep aggressive sounding tone, look into the Magnaflow Street Series or MAP cat-backs.

Just my opinion, but the ecoboost sounds better with the factory exhaust. The GT sounds great with factory or aftermarket exhaust.

I just wish they had made the turbo sound more turbo-y. Especially by adding a BOV. I understand aftermarket is possible, but that breaks the warranty.

Off road pipe will give it the deeper tone at idle.

Keep in mind, some of those videos posted have a much larger turbo than the ecoboost... The sound will be different.

the srt4 and genesis run Mitsubishi td04 turbos and they are close to the size of the gt22 the ecoboost has, I think the gt22 may even be a bit bigger than the old td04.

Put a ma performance or I assume any other open filter cai on it. You'll have a whole lot of turbo and bov sound. You can hear the factory valve dump back into the intake it is very loud. 15 min swap to stock if you're worried about warranty.
