Does anyone know if the racing stripes on a 2021 California Special can be removed without messing up the paint job? Love the look of the car but not really a fan of racing stripes. Here is a picture as is now and a photoshop of what I am thinking with it removed. Also let me know what you think, if I should keep it on or remove it if possible.

Iā€™ve considered removing them off my ā€˜22. Thankfully itā€™s in a better spot (and not quite as noticeable)

I believe they are easily removed but consider these strips are an important part of the iconic California Special.

This is where it all began in 1968.

Just something to consider.

Removing the stripes should be fairly easy. They likely will peel off, especially in warmer weather, let it sit in the sun or use a hair dryer. Just go slowly and you can use alcohol to remove any residual adhesive. I think Iā€™d look into what replacement stripes cost and possibly order a set and keep them stored away in the event you ever sell and decide to restore the stripes.

Yeah, wonder if itā€™d lose a little value not being spec to a California Special for the model year if I did try to sell later. Good point. I originally ordered a Black GT Premium with no stripes but kept getting delayed due to chip shortages and a large gasoline leak at the Flat Rock plant. So pulled up the Mustang app and found this on a dealer lot about an hour and a half away from my home. It was $4-$5k more due to CS and 401A package, and other but the wife didnā€™t complain so I figured it was a little better than what I ordered. I love the car and people everywhere compliment me on the looks. Just not a racing stripe guy.

Good idea. Wonder how hard it would be to find the stripes. Google should tell me.

Yeah I prefer the lower placement on yours as well. One nice thing about mine though is sometimes it almost just looks like sun glare. Because thatā€™s about where the sun glares due to the shape of the side of the car.

Not sure about the newer models, but I had an 09 Cali Spec, and the white stripe was a rare option. I'd keep, otherwise just looks like another black mustang IMHO
