I have a Triple Yellow with Black Niche Targa wheels. I'm undecided if I should have my calipers powdercoated red or yellow. I'm personally leaning toward the red...although red is much more common. I just think there would be too much yellow going on if I went yellow.

Here's a yellow Porsche with the same wheels and red calipers (just to get an idea)...

vs. a yellow Camaro with yellow calipers...

I'm definitely leaning toward red calipers...
That is not calipers painted yellow, rather yellow caliper covers. So ricey like white on rice. Typical for a Camaro owner.

I just got done painting my calipers today. I know crappy I phone pics with the light getting dark but I cant decide if I like red calipers or if black would look better.

Did you pull them off to paint them? I don't think the red looks bad at all, but I'm leaning more towards the gloss black with red lettering.

I actually painted them on the car. It took a few days to do because of all the masking required but after doing all 4 brakes I only missed a tiny spot on my hub and got a little overspray on it. Hoping to take a wire brush to it tomorrow to fix. I realised Probably easier to take the brakes off after I got about halfway through the project

What parts on the actual brakes did you mask off? I think I'm gonna try my hand at this tmrw.

Whats the best paint and isn't powder coating them more durable?

G2 is the top of the line caliper paint if you are diy. Powder coating needs to be done professionally and can cost double or triple the cost.

I think it's called G2, not G6. The G2 kits run about $40 from Amazon. It is a two-part epoxy system that you mix and then brush on.

A step down from that is the Dupli-Color kits which are about $25. These are not a two-part system, so they are less durable. Also brush on.

Both of the above can be done with the calipers still on the vehicle, it will just require some extra time and patience to properly prep and mask other areas off.

Professional powder coating is the most durable you can do. My local shop quoted me $35 per caliper for the front, and $30 per caliper for the rear. So $130 total. I would imagine this is about competitive and average. On top of the extra expense is the requirement that you'll have to take your calipers off the car so the shop can paint them. This means putting your car on jack stands for however long it takes. My shop told me they are a 3 business day turnaround right now...so you'd possibly need another vehicle for a few days depending on your shop's turnaround.

Once you get into the project you can decide how far to take the paint. Lots of masking is required though. I masked off all the lines, bolts and valves and sprayed pretty much the entire caliper. I used vht paint

Par for the course with the rattle cans. If you use the brush on stuff it's alot less masking (if any)...

i agree, I looked for the g2 stuff but no local shops had it in stock. I kinda did it as a color test before i have them powder coated.

Is everyone using the brush-on kits? I've got a red brush-on kit, but I've been thinking about picking up a gloss black spray kit.

LONG time lurker here, but finally trying to get in the game. Glad this thread is around and would love to keep it going. I'm having a hard time deciding on colors (both for the car and the calipers). I've been looking for photos, but there are so many it is tough to pick out the calipers. I wish we had a thread like the exhaust sounds, but for caliper, wheel, and body color combinations.

I'm leaning towards a ruby red, yellow, or magnetic for the car, with the black 19 wheels. None of those seem too make the caliper color an obvious decision. Yellow and Magnetic seem to favor red calipers. What about Ruby Red? Seems like a Red car with the Red calipers would be too much. Black goes with everything, but if the wheels are black, then it is "too little" and hard to pick out the calipers.

Combinations I have thought of are:

Body Wheel Caliper
Ruby Red Black Magnetic/dark gray
Ruby Red Black Black
Ruby Red Black Yellow

Yellow Tri Black Black
Yellow Tri Black Red
Yellow Tri Black Black

Magnetic Black Black
Magnetic Black Red
