Recover OEM steering wheel with leather

Is there a service I could use to recover my 2016 OEM steering wheel? The 2015-17 steering wheels are all crap vinyl.

I love the new 2018 steering wheel with the thicker leather. I could replace with a 2018 leather steering wheel but I would need to replace the airbag, too. Other parts may need to be replaced with the changes in 2018. In other words, a swap out is much too expensive.

I do not want a after-market or flat bottom wheel. I do not want the GT 350 wheel.

Remove the old vinyl and install the new leather.

I want a pro to do this.

Just keep it OEM with a high quality leather.

Check out Redline. They sell a cover that goes over the factory cover. They can also install the cover if you send them your wheel.

I'm sure Beith or DCMS (sp?) would reupholster your wheel if you wanted them to. They have core exchanges so obviously they're doing something with the old wheels.

I have the Redline leather cover installed, with the extra padding option. I was unaware they made a cover that went over the factory cover? My Redline cover is high quality leather and it replaced the factory cover.

I bought a used OEM wheel. Scored the Redline cover and padding from the classifieds on this forum. Sent the wheel off with the cover to the Redline installer.

I'm more than satisfied with it. The feel is much better, the padding adds to that as well. Redline has a ton of different options regarding stitching color etc.

After selling me stock wheel, I have less invested than the wheels from LMR. While it was definitely worth the money invested, I can't see investing $500+ on an aftermarket steering wheel. I didn't want Carbon Fiber and I didn't want a flat bottomed wheel. None of the wheels stocked by LMR had the color / setup that I wanted personally either.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why couldn't you swap an 18 wheel in? The shape is the same. Just swap your existing steering wheel harness into the new steering wheel. Easy to do.

You wouldn't need a new air bag, and the new buttons have the same physical shape, but the old buttons will work if you swap the harness over. Us auto guys always had to swap the harness over.

I've probably taken my steering wheel off a dozen times, and have had 5 different steering wheels on my car. :headbonk:

Ahh ok. That's the first I heard about that, and just did a little research and found someone else said the same. Seems like an odd thing to change. It's a shame since that 2018 wheel is so much nicer than the 2015 "leather" wheel.
