Sorry for bumping an older thread, but that looks awesome.

And I completely understand the feel coming from a MK5 GTI myself (MK6 had better steering wheel) :D
Hell, base Jetta has a better steering wheel than our Mustangs

Interesting. I had a MK7 GTI and the wheel was forgettable. I love my GT350 wheel, but agree that it's slightly annoying the alcantara has become matted over time.

I love my GT350 wheel, but agree that it's slightly annoying the alcantara has become matted over time.
Wonder if it's just better to take the stock wheel and get it wrapped like OP? Comes out about the same price as a GT350 wheel.

Well for us GT owners, having the flat bottom is a big deal aesthetically.

His modified GT wheel looks like it has a flat base to me.

My question, does the increased wheel thickness make looking at the instrument gauges harder?
