Hello All!

I have been lurking in the background for a GT350 for a couple of years now and am regretting not pulling the trigger last summer. We all know how crazy car prices have been and have read the posts with owners taking advantage of the market. My question is to all of the owners who have purchased recently and don't mind sharing. How should I set my expectations for a purchase now? Anyone have any insights on private sale versus Ford Dealer versus other manufacturer dealer, etc.

Imho, if you find the right car and you're good with the price that's all that matters. There is no guarantee either way. Prices could continue to rise and you'll kick yourself for not buying sooner, or they might drop after you buy and wish you waited, ha! Good luck either way!

I was lucky and watched my now new 2020 online for a few months "In Transit" until it said "In Stock" on the dealer website. This was in March of this year. So very late delivery.
I pounced and we played the markup dance for a week until I bought it for MSRP.

Oh what a difference a year makes.
This time last year I paid 5K under for a new ‘19 GT350. I just may be able to sell it for what I paid including tax and license today.
If you can swing the markups right now I’d just buy, they aren’t going down anytime soon and will surely be fewer to choose from.

First of all there is no question that from a price standpoint let alone peace of mind standpoint that dealing with an original owner of a GT350/R and/or a private sale is by far the best way to go.

Obviously Ford dealerships and non Ford dealerships buy these cool cars wholesale and sell retail therefore there is a significant cost/profit margin when working with a Ford dealership or non Ford dealership versus working with an individual regarding a private sale.

As far as how you should set your expectations that comes down to a number of questions such as:

* What is your financial budget for a GT350/R.
* What model of Shelby would you like to purchase such as a base 4 seat GT350 versus a 2 seat R model based on your driving likes and requirements.
* Are you looking for a 2015 or a 2020 model or a model year some where in between.
* Is low mileage important to you or is a high mileage example okay.
* Is provenance such as WS, GT350/R Owners Kit, original bill of sale and service records important to you.
* Is a 3 year Bumper to Bumper and 5 year a Power Train warranty important to you.
* Are you willing to purchase a GT350/R with a replacement power train or do you want an all original power train.
* Does overall showroom condition play a factor or are you okay with a vehicle that is in average or less than average condition.
* Are there certain color/stripe combinations that you want to have.

I suggest that the above list could go on for quite some time with the help of many of our other well educated members but at least the above is a starting point after which time you need to come to terms with some of the above questions.

Good luck with your journey and there is no question that you came to the right place in order to get some great help and much needed feedback from a great deal of very educated and experienced GT350/R owners.
