I am taking my 21 base GT in a few weeks for the fuel pump recall. Has anyone already done the recall and did you notice any difference in your car. Dealer said software updates can take most of the day to do and check to make everything is good.

I received the notice. The car runs great in hot weather and on low fuel. I'm not taking it in unless I start having some of the stalling issues. I feel like there's a greater chance the dealership will screw something up, than to do any good. I haven't always had the best experience with dealership service.

I had mine accomplished in the last week. I used mobile service. It took about one hour for the tech to hock up, download the software and apply it. The car rebooted several times while the software was applied.

Driving-wise, I've not noticed any differences.

Sound-wise, there has been distinct change.

Previously when approaching, unlocking and then opening the driver's side door, the car would "uggah" (that's the technical term) :giggle:. If it'd been a few days, "uggah, uggah, uggah" would be the standard welcome when opening the door. That was the fuel pump energizing and charging the system.

Now, I often hear something energizing. A high-pitched whine I guess. Very few or next to no uggahs, ever.

So far, so good. Several of us have had the update. One person with a Ford Performance tune did experience several issues. Those comments here:

Dealer hesitation, I can appreciate that. I've experienced same.

One Ford dealer in town, they have a really bad energy about them. I felt it just sitting in the parking lot. Confirmed it by talking to a Service Advisor. I did not go there, would not consider them. Another dealer, it was what we'd like to experience. I presented them with a clean car, then photographed. The SA took a video. Got it back fixed and as dropped off.

If the mobile service is available, you could consider that. They do have distance limitations. They can work outside or in the garage. I've cleared two recalls this way. Both techs were genuinely great at what the did and the process took an hour.

I had it done last month. My dealer has a mobile unit that came right to my house. Tech used a laptop right in my garage, took about 30 minutes. Had no problems before, or after. My car is never tracked.

I had mobile service done on my base '21 GT for the recall. The update took about 20 min but the tech left me with a dead battery after claiming to have "checked it" and had a check engine light come on for the first time since owning the car.

No noticeable change in drivability other than the transmission seems to lug less but most of this could be the transmission learning being reset.
