Anyone know where to get a rubber protector for the rear license plate so it doesnt sit against the car and scratch it. I can't find it anywere. I've seen one before, it's just like a rubber gasket that goes along the outside of the plate.

I took a piece of black vinyl (black car) and put it under the plate so if it rubbed it would just rub vinyl. So far so good. Replaced it last week and no paint damage.

I put those felt feet you use under furniture on wood floors (had an abundance in a drawer) and it seems to be doing a good job. I am thinking using some form of weather stripping in the future.

Cut a backing out of a plastic storage box cover. Works fine. Cut a little smaller then plate so you can't see it.

Try one of these kits (depending on how many screws you need):

http://www.amazon.com/Cruiser-Accessories-81430-Fastener-Stainless/dp/B00BZZTGYU/ref=cm_wl_huc_item

http://www.amazon.com/Cruiser-Acces...im_auto_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=1QW0NM6XQ5M5G6W0H4WG

Install them in the lower two unused holes of the rear license plate. It'll keep the plate from rattling and provide a rubber cushion between the plate and the bumper. This works particularly well if you're using a frame.

I bought two of the larger kits and did both front and rear plates.

I didn't like the idea of using felt to use as a pad...it will quickly pick up road grit and vibration will cause it to scour the paint beneath. I put the license plate in a plate frame and then stuck several small self-adhesive clear rubber kitchen door 'bumpers' behind the license plate frame. Minimal contact with the bumper while cushioning the frame.

Go to the hardware store and get some 1 or 2" foam rubber insulation with the peel and stick adhesive on one side.

I used 5 small clear rubber bumpers that I bought for a couple bucks from the hardware section of Walmart. The tags in my state are metal and I have a metal cover over the plate, so I placed two bumpers across the top and three across the bottom of the plate. They look like this: http://ceramicsandbeyond.com/estore/images/DSC02452.jpg.
