One has to wonder, what the heck you'd ever need a trailer like that for?

I think it's the first trailer I've seen with exhaust...
It would look better if made from a convertible, so the top of it was relatively flat. It could be a handy way to take a bunch of gear, tools, luggage with you on a Power Tour or even a road trip vacation. But as presented, its a little hokey...

For the record, I've got a hitch on my '99. I don't actually tow with it (I have a V8 SUV for that), but I do like to be able to put a bike rack on that isn't strapped to the decklid. For some reason, I can't find a roof rack to fit it... :D To be fair, though, I have looked into small, lightweight travel trailers and campers. I can totally see wanting to take the Mustang - and a camper - on vacation. It doesn't seem an unreasonable concept to me.

Mustang's my only car, and every now and then I need to take a Jet Ski to the beach. Might be nice to have the option.

I have to agree with Jimmy and EXP. I would put a hitch on, especially if it could be hidden somehow. I cycle and I would love to be able to throw some bikes on a hitch rack instead of in the trunk or risk scratching my car by lifting them up onto the roof.

I think it is a perfectly reasonable question.

Unfortunately, from what I have seen, I think the answer will be Yes, with the new bumper and diffuser, it will be incredibly difficult to put a hitch on this vehicle, and likely look absolutely terrible.

Something just occurred to me... with that new body-color rear diffuser, is it going to be more difficult to install a trailer hitch?
More difficult than...an older mustang? Maybe. Unsightly, but doable? Probably, if you throw enough money at it. Practical? Most definitely! That hitch ought to come with customary mud flaps:doh: Just kidding...its your car, if that's what you want, rock on:thumbsup:

"with the new bumper and diffuser, it will be incredibly difficult to put a hitch on this vehicle, and likely look absolutely terrible" Darn!...I put a hitch on the back of my '10 for a bike rack. I was hoping to put one on my new vert. Our bikes will look pretty weird stuffed in the back seat.

Owner's manual says you have to use premium fuel to tow:

2.3L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 Engines
We recommend regular unleaded gasoline
with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87.
Some stations offer fuels posted as regular
with an octane rating below 87, particularly
in high altitude areas. We do not
recommend fuels with an octane rating
below 87.
To provide improved performance, we
recommend premium fuel for severe duty
usage, such as trailer tow.

I used to put my bike in the back of my 2005 Convertible Mustang. I never thought it looked odd. It even fit with the top up, though I'm fairly short and ride a 54cm frame.

Though you did say "bikes" so, you might want to look into this:
http://www.amazon.com/Saris-Bones-8...F8&qid=1406923048&sr=8-3&keywords=saris+bones

I have that as well for those times when I need more than 1.

I do the same thing with my 46cm Surly in my '99. But the front wheel has to come off, and I have to lower the top to get it in. The bike will fit in the trunk of my sister's '12 vert with both wheels off, but not in mine. But for me, I'd rather carry on the bike on a hitch mount so I don't have to mess with removing the top boot (which covers the back seat). I definitely don't want a strap-on carrier like shown in the link, and I'm not sold on Saris' quality based on past experience.

I gotta tell ya! At first I thought Jimmy was kidding. OMG! It never would have occurred to me to trailer anything with my Mustang.

I've seen lots of people tow with a Mustang. It's really not unusual around here. Perfect if you want to track your car and take along a small trailer with tools, spare wheels/tires, etc. In fact, I was hoping it would come with a tow option, as I was going to get it for a few hundred as a "just in case".
