Before I start, I have been speaking with my dealership and they will fix it. But if I can do it easily, it saves me a trip.

Anyway here are some pics of my deck panel and as you can see, its way off.

What I am wondering is, if it can be fixed???? Looking at the side view pics, the top of the panel is much closer to the trunk than the lower portion is. This is obviously pushing up the bottom of the panel and makes the panel look like shit...

Just wondering if someone can check theirs an possibly take a pic and show me if your gap if uniform all the way up or down the sides if the panel.

Thanx

There is not much adjustments before something else hits and chip the paint.
What happened is when they stamped the sheet metal together, they were not perfectly aligned or twisted. Ford quality.

This might seem kind of stupid but I recently removed mine and didn't put it back into place correctly and it looked the same way. Did you recently remove yours and put it back or is it like this from factory? The bottom of the decklid has a lip that catches or tucks in behind the actual trunk locking it into place. It could be that the factory installed it wrong and used longer screws to hold it in place to the trunk. Seems dumb but hey my car is a GT and had a front fender from an EB.

I have never touched it. Just bitched a lot..... Maybe I will remove it and have a look. A local body shop does all my dealers body/panel alignment work, so I can eff with it an the dealership will never know....

Well I just pulled the panel, realigned and reinstalled. Same thing:doh: I am beginning to think either the panel wasn't molded properly or the trunk isn't shaped properly. I think the trunk is aligned fine, but the portion the panel attaches to may not have been formed properly.

Either way, she is gonna get fixed....

Thank you for the pics. I removed my panel for a second time and found little plastic tabs protruding from the area around the nut inserts. I would they are there to protect the paint from being rubbed behind the panel. Anyway I snippped them off and put tape over the clips. I reinstalled the panel and it now sits flush against the trunk but still sticks up when closed. I am thinking the panel is warped.

Yeah mine came like that and my dealer just said it's normal and they wouldn't do anything about it. First, it's completely misaligned and second, it sits on there pretty loose and looking behind it with a flashlight, the top plastic cap piece is actually glued onto the part that connect to the metal trunk and I could see loose pieces of this "glue" stretching as you move that piece up and down. Real shoddy craftsmanship on that part of the car.

I just pulled my tails to tint them (easier to do when out I think) anyway I discovered the tail light on the drivers side wasnt aligned properly. After reinstall, I aligned the light and now my deck lid panel is almost perfect.

Ford needs to do something about these misalignment issues. I know it isn't new. But Holy Fawk Ford, this is 2017, not 1917.
