Raxiom LED Switchback Turn Signals

Just a quick vid showing the lights on my car, I didn't cover the install because CJ did a great job of showing how to swap out the lights. But, for those that want to see what effect it has on the turn signal from the inside of the car, you may be interested. Yep I have the same one's from CJ's. I also got the clear LED side markers, map light LED's, trunk and glove box LED's. Makes the car look a lot better and the lights are super bright. Cool up grades

Are the raxiom's just re-branded Diode Dynamics? I have the diode dynamics and its 100% worth the cost! Super easy to install too, did it in my parking lot on base in about 10 minutes.

No. Raxiom came before the DD sequencers. If anything DD is a rebrand...

both are literally just a "rebrand" of readily available bulbs that you can find on amazon or ebay.com.

I've actually torn down a set that came from one of them and one that came from amazon.com that was half the price of theirs and they are identical. even the circuit board inside.

all they do to make them fit with the mustang's plugs is just five minutes with a grinding bit on a dremel.

I'm not talking smack on them wanting to run a business and be enterprising, but literally every product that I've seen from Raxiom is just rebranding somebody else's stuff. LEDs aren't theirs, radios aren't theirs, etc. Diode Dynamics? hey that's literally what they do is sell lighting stuff, so I could care less, and I don't mind them doing what they gotta do to make money. I'm just the kind of person that is frugal at times, and knows enough stuff about enough things to bother to buy a LED from amazon and then buy something branded for twice the price to tear them apart just to verify that other than one small detail they are indeed the same.

Out of pure curiosity - do you have any pics of the "side-by-side" analysis you did with the various parts?

no, I just opened them up and looked at the identical circuit boards with 21 2835 LEDs and 7 3030 LEDs. only reason i even went that far was because I was trying to mess with the wiring of the car so the white portion of the switchbacks didn't even light up at all because they're kinda redundant since we have the gills.

so i tried to combine the "high" and the "low" sides into a single signal so it would provide enough load for the turn signal and not have that error gallop inside the cabin, and make use of the white LEDs that I was basically taking out of the equation, but the internal circuitry makes it so if the amber is on, the white turns off anyway so it basically canceled itself out and didn't work.

I then bought an amber non-switchback set to do what I was after. it worked, buuut it still wasn't enough of a load to make it not gallop.

So I bought another set of switchbacks and will just go back to that since I'm about to install my Roush front end and the fogs will be relocated so less redundancy of a blob of white in the same relative location.

while I'm waiting for the rain to end here i took one of the new switchbacks apart, and sure enough, while half the price, internal circuitry is identical and of course 21 2835's and 7 3030 LEDs anyway, so the lumen output is the same. five minutes with my dremel and a grinding bit, and they were also modified on the sides like the DD LEDs they are selling which again are modified for the bases of our turn signals.

since I'm about to tear the front end off the car in a few days when it warms back up/rain stops and install my Roush fascia, I'm also adding these load resistors that integrate with the wiring.

that way, I can get rid of that annoying galloping, and still have it look how I want.

Those resistors are plug and play? One of the reasons I haven't bought switchbacks. Kinda anal about cutting/splicing factory wires. Any way you could show how you modified the base?

It's literally just a resistor that plugs inline. They're silent because something like this isn't easily rebranded. No places to put a logo I guess.

Raxiom, Diode Dynamics, JDMAstar, all the same products for LEDs. Again, nothing wrong with it at all, people gotta maker money. Heck I know of a retailer in the Focus ST community, that is a new car salesman by day, and is a reseller of the same crap everything else sells. He doesn't have a retail location, just a website. I think it's silly that people think he has something going on, when it's all the same shit that you can get from 5 other sources. Except with him since nothing is stocked, everything has a lead time. Not knocking it, again, we all need to pay the bills.

She's not the first to crap on them. BBB also said some words a while back.

Honestly, if you have a $40,000 car plus mods, then like 20 bucks or so more for a branded certified product should be nothing

I think people would be surprised if they knew how many things they purchased were or had components in them from other manufacturers. This is how the business world works. Pharmaceutical companies often rebrand medicines and sell them under different names for lower costs. Anyhow, this thread seems to have gotten off track. I personally don't care who makes the LED's, I really like the look! So, props to whoever made them! :cheers:
