Any of you guys figured out how to silence the passenger rear quarter panel rattle? It buzzes really loud over rough roads.

I think it's either a lose plastic clamp on quarter panel or something on the metal deck where the speakers mount. People have mentioned on 2014 models that the rear deck panel was rattling on the body of the c pillar.

Brandonsmash keep me posted I would like to know the Root cause if your dealership can locate the issue. Have you taken them on a ride to show them the sound and general area it is resonating from?

Hah. Yes I did, just yesterday. While it was quieter than usual, the rattling was still plainly audible. . . except the tech they sent with me was a no-helmet-wearing, motorcycle-riding military vet with substantial hearing loss.

Mine rattles on the passengers side plastic piece right under the rear window. Going down a rough road and I heard it. My daughter was sitting there so I told here to start feeling around. Stopped as soon as she touched that piece.

Looks like the problem is the clearance is very close on the C Pillar panel plastic mount and it makes contact with the rear body metal. If you want to fix it pull down the C Pillar panel (labeled Motor Trend in image attached) that covers the side airbag. Put felt tape between the metal body and plastic mounting bracket located at the top.

This was extremely annoying and irritating but after a 1 hr drive last night on rough roads the issue has been silenced. Hope you can get this fixed and the information above helps. My car has never been so silent :D.

I'm with you :D Rattling stuff causes me episodes of psychotic rage, I just had to fix it :D

Funny thing, my 2011 Focus had the same rattle caused by the same thing, fixed in the same way. It's probably a Ford thing. :)

Fingers crossed for you guys so the fix works!
I just tried this fix, it worked! Thanks for the helpful tip and pics

Foam Tape

Hey Steve,

Can you tell me where you got the material? Did you ordered it online or purchased it at a store? I want to get it at the store instead of online.

Thanks.
You can purchase Foam tape from Orchard Supply or Home Depot.
Take a couple strips and custom cut it with scissors and strategically place it where you believe the gap in the right side of the glove compartment needs for that annoying rattling sound to go away! See pics for reference.
