Is it these: https://www.raptorperformance.com/pages/raptor-shift-light-install-mustang-2015-2016-5-0-v8

Because that's what I'm referring to when I said I read the instructions on the Raptor site and have no idea what half of it means or where any of it is actually located...

That is the car specific one yes. There are regular ones as well. I have no ordered mine yet, maybe this weekend, if I did I would send you pics. I did talk to them on the phone today, they were very helpful. I'm certain they would assist you.

Once mine is mounted I will do a post on the DYI forum as I want to keep my car as stock as I can. I will only have the shift light noticeable when at the track.

Wish they were a bit smaller. They look fairly big in the pictures.
it's one of the smallest universal on the market..its about the size of an 18650 flashlight battery if you know what that is.

The MSD 89631 comes with what they call a GMR pickup that best I can tell, you simply clamp it around the designated coil wire.
That's what I was hoping for. I was going to look into inductive pickups myself now I do not need to do the research.

Thanks

MSD 89631

Splicing is required on them all as they are universal.
The MSD #89631 on your site utilizes an inductive pickup, therefore no splicing required.

I just ordered the MSD #8963 which has four programmable shift points. The MSD #89631 has only one programmable shift point. Both utilize an inductive pick up therefore no splicing is required. Ill update the installation once I get it.

I think I would have mounted the light in the drivers side hood vent. A shift light there would be much more useful than a turn signal.

This could be a fun tool to test different shift points per the track and conditions!
