So I took my car to car max for an appraisal, and this random part was laying on my floor afterwards. Any clue as to where it goes? I hate careless people.

Is the other end threaded? Has to be a plug for something, like covering up the location of a screw. What side of the car was it on? Might want to look around underneath.

Found it...goes on a bolt behind the gas pedal. No clue what it does...or how the idiots at carmax made it come off. Can’t trust anyone.

I remember back in 1980 my dad bought a new Thunderbird and it has a big hump in the passenger floorboard and after about 6 months he got around to pulling the carpet up to see what that hump was caused from and it was some sort of a big hook with threads on 1 end and it had obviously came from the line when the car was built and whoever put the carpet in laid the damn carpet right over top of that hook, it was about 8 unches long. Not something small. We got a big laugh out of that. And you gotta love that FMC quality control.

Friday night I took off the radiator cover off to change out the chrome running horse to a black one and found what looks like a fender bolt laying in between the radiator and condenser. I had to get a telescopic magnet to get it out. I figure someone on the assembly line dropped it and couldn’t get it out.

LOL!!! I for one am pleased that your Mustang chose to self destruct by spitting this part onto the floorboard. I earlier this year purchased a new 2017 Ecoboost Mustang and about 2 weeks later noticed this same piece laying on the driver side floor mat. For the life of me I couldn't find were it came from.

Guess it really doesn't matter now as I traded the Ecoboost off a few months later for the GT. FWIW, the GT has yet to spew forth any like part onto the carpet. Let's hope it stays this way!!!
